Which is why they won't be asked.

the UT academic brass would literally shite themselves if they shared a conference with the truck drivers.

Why should they have to take Boise?

No, it doesn't. Boise belongs in a mid major conference with their shitty academics.

A lot of people have been talking about football-only memberships for some schools in the major conferences (Boise to Big East has been raised a couple times). Would such an arrangement be attractive to the Pac-12? I mean, Boise doesn't really seem to be a grab in terms of TV revenue, but if we act like that isn't #1 priority for a minute, isn't it a pretty good get, especially looking forward? That region (Idaho, Nevada) is the fastest-growing by percentage of population in the nation this decade (according to the Census).

Boise is a glorified JUCO. They don't deserve to be anywhere near a real conference.

I'd require them to get rid of their blue field then I'd talk to them if I was the commissioner in a BCS conference.

Boise State belongs in the Pac-12+?

Pac-12 will expand again eventually and should include BSU. Instead of just building up academic prestige, the conference presidents should look into upgrading the level of competition.

Not only that but we have a commanding presence as the dominant sports team in the whole state of Idaho and parts of Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Montana. That whole area combined is about 1.8 million people.

Forget the Nielsen rankings which rate TV markets, the Boise metro boundries determined by the FCC (used by the Nielsen rankings) is heavily fragmented due to the fast pace of growth and change in the region since the 1950s, and it poorly represents the true size of the Boise TV market, which, especially since we're a pretty affluent city, is a lot closer to the size of Louisville or Oklahoma City than it is Youngstown, OH as the rankings portray. Not only that, but the entire city has really rallied around the Broncos, so our fanbase is pretty significant. LINK /

Let me put it this way, there's a reason we're trying as fast as we humanly can to expand our stadium to near 60,000 seats.

I wish the Pac-12 would invite us football-only (and wrestling as it already competes in the Pac-12), but it's almost certainly not going to happen. The Big 12 is a lot more likely, even then still a minimal chance of happening. I'd be thrilled to see us join the Big East. So much better than the conference we're currently in.

Bevo Conference wouldn't make sense right now. They would need a few more teams to fill in the space between Boise and Kansas.

Air Force/Colorado State, ask BYU again, maybe bring in one of the Nevada teams.

They're going to stay in Conference Shithole. That way they can own the conference and get an automatic bid.

I think you're implying that they want that, or that that's advantageous to them somehow - it just isn't, especially with seemingly large-scale changes to the way the postseason works and conferences work imminent. They don't want it, their fans don't seem to want it, and I think it would be good for football generally to try to get them into a major conference, if for no other reason than to raise the level of competition for both them and other teams.

haven't these plans been on the books for years, with nothing to show?

won't happen. stop dreaming

the pac12, ACC, and big10 care way too much about academics to even entertain the thought of BSU

that's your only real option

This. Is called being "scared".

I don't know a single fan that gives a CRAP about academics when watching a football game.

So just stop parroting the information you're getting off of ESPiN, thanks.
