Thoughts? Seems he would certainly lock down the state of LA.

I think he's gotta be a Coorinator first. Prove yourself there and then maybe HC. He's a great recruiter though

ask Larry Porter

in other words.. it's not a great idea to hire a position coach to HC just because he's a talented recruiter.

recruiting coordinator =/= head coach

run an offense or defense before you run a team.

Tulane should target him as their next head coach.

Porter probably wont be the head coach at Memphis after the 2011 season, maybe 2012 at the latest. In over his head. Never should have been hired in the first place. I mean c'mon, what makes a RB coach that has never been anything BUT a RB coach, qualified to take over and run a major college football program?

It's also not a great idea to hire an assistant coach to coach ANY position just because he's a talented recruiter. That's Rantard "Kooky Talk" logic at it's finest..............

It works both ways. Larry Porter had a terrible year. Although, they weren't good before he got there. Ole Miss got some great recruits because of Orgeron, but he wansn't the best coach. (Wasn't terrible though either) Then you have guys like Dooley and Turner Gill who are now at BCS schools with no coordinator experience.

I don't consider Memphis a major college football program.
