Why would Herman want to go to Texas right now?

He's not a natural "Texas Guy". Dude is from Ohio. He went to school in California. He has coached at a few Texas schools...Texas State, Rice, Sam Houston State, now Houston. Plus Ohio State and Iowa State.
Texas is a shite storm. Their boosters put so much money into the program that they feel like they run the program, not the athletic department. The athletic department doesn't have the balls to put their foot down against the boosters.
The team simply is not talented. They are getting worked by a bad TCU team. They are about to completely miss out on going to a bowl at all. There's nothing to work with.
LSU is not in that bad of a scenario. LSU has talent everywhere. Even though they will be losing a lot of talent next year, they still have more talent on roster than Texas and it isn't even close. Yes, Texas has all the resources in the world to grow a dynasty...but it hasn't been done in recent history. Mack Brown won one championship in 2005. Before that, the last championship was in 1970. 35 years of nothing. They have only won the Big 12 3 times in the past 20 years. Yes, they dominated the SWC back in the day...But they haven't done shite since.
Who's to say that Herman can turn that around anyways, with the dumpster fire status that they're in. I just don't see what makes Texas such a better job opportunity than LSU. LSU has the fanbase. LSU has the facilities which are improving. LSU will pay just as well. LSU has the talent without the in state competition. Yes, at LSU, you have to fight Saban and Alabama every year. Yes, the SEC West is a murderer's row. But if Herman is as good as he is made out to be, in 5 years when Saban is out, LSU could be that monster program with a good hire here. I don't see Texas getting back to that status in that timeframe.

Exactly
They are an awful rebuild and also far more stressful

I mean there's a reason Saban turned down 10 million. He knew that that dumpster fire would be absolutely no fun to rebuild.

Texas should hire Les.
Win-win for everyone... Les can beat wussy spread option teams, and made a career for himself by beating Big Game Bob with less talented teams.

You'd think an offensive mind like his would look at the two schools and say, I only have to score like 15 points per game and I'll win at LSU, but have to score at least 30 at Texas.
Plus you'd think aranda would be in his ear about where he would rather be.

We will get to see the type of guy Herman is based on him choosing TEXAS / LSU
1)Does he want to take an easier road to try and win championships in a division that most people don't really give a lot of thought to.
Or
2)Does he want to try and make a name for himself and compete against the best teams and against the best coach in the toughest division in college football.
LSU just has to hope it's option 2
