Why would Herman not have LSU as an option when he hasn't signed with Texas yet?

He's got a stacked contract still waiting at Houston if Texas doesn't pan out for him.

Because he always wanted Texas. Texas would not talk until Charley lost and closed all media bullshite negative PR down. Texas did it right by not firing him until his predictable blow out by TCU.

Just to clarify, I have not believed anything I've read on here the last couple of weeks. That said, the rumor is that Herman called LSU to not turn down the job, but just to be honest and let them know UT was in the picture. Not wanting to look like we were his backup plan, Joe said thanks, but no thanks, we've got our guy. Again, I'm not believing anything until I see the presser.

And I just don't understand the hurry with this announcement if it's O. You'd think they'd want to continue talks with Jimbo until after their game at least. Unless he had flat out turned it down. I guess will see in the next 4 hours.
