He’s clearly a good coach. I mean, he’s not at all my top choice, but he’s an absolute upgrade. What’s the problem?

We didn’t get Woodward to hire a coach like Mark Stoops. We just didn’t. It’s that simple.

LSU finally has a competent AD and a crap ton of money to throw at a coach this year. When you have that type of hand you don’t fold for Mark Stoops. Simple as that.

Because he's Les Miles.

He’s not LSU’s caliber. Period. We shouldn’t be in the business of picking up that plucky fella just looking for his shot. I’d also argue that Stoops has gone this long at Kentucky because the East is a shithole annually. He filled a void that SCar, Mizzou, Vandy, and UT couldn’t. He’s merely third place in a shite division because no one else will step up to the plate.

GFY. People like you are why we were stuck with O

He seems like another Les/O type coach. Maybe just a slight tier above. What does he do well as a coach? Obviously he’s a decent coach, but I think everyone is tired of not having a coach who is elite at at least one side of the ball X and O wise.

Seems more like Les than O. Perennially have us 8-4 to 10-2.

Also the SEC east has been terrible during this stretch of them winning 7-9 games. Outside of us this year has he won an SEC west game?

I honestly don’t care about the name. I really don’t. I care about winning. He is a guy who built a loser into a winner. That’s what matters, right?

Because this hire is supposed to have us losing one to two games MAX in a few years. In year 3 we should not be losing more than two games. And after year 3, it should never be more than two. That is realistic given our talent and resources. Stoops is at best a consistent 3 loss coach.

3 winning seasons in 9 years isn't good enough.

He’s had 5 winning seasons at Kentucky. Get your facts straight.

Stoops is a good coach. He really is. I just don't think, as others have said, that's the move that Scott Woodward, a man well renowned throughout college athletics, came home to his alma mater to make

Chad, it’s obvious to everyone here that LSU is looking to improve on the hiring front since its last outing.

Have you seen the Sec East? Anyone could beat Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina in the last five years. And that’s not counting Vandy and mizzou

Fact is he's slightly above average and his record is far from good enough. He's not been mentioned as a candidate anywhere that matters for a reason.

He built a loser into a slightly above .500 program. He may not be the worst option, and he may be an upgrade over the previous coach, but neither of those are the expectation.
