What am I missing? He was good at a small time program like Samford. He almost has a cult like following on here. Frankly, I just do see anything special in his background. People are trying to plug him somewhere just because. With the hiring of Mangas, he will NOT be on the 10 person staff. Stop trying to create a role for him.

with 10 spots, you have the following:

OC: Peetz
PGC: Mangas
OL: Cregg or someone else
RB: Faulk
WR: Joseph
ST: McMahon
CB/DB: Raymond

That's 7 spots locked up, leaving 3. With that you have to hire a DC, that leaves 2. It depends on who you hire as to what other position coaches are needed. For instance, if you hire Freeman, he is LB guru, so you would need to hire a DL coach. Not sure if a safeties coach will be hired, but there is no way that a DC will only have two position coaches under him.

Face it, Callaway has no spot available.

Because a few people on the rant decided that he should be the OC and then the rest of the morons just followed along.

Unless Orgeron and LaCouture coach DL.

His resume is way better than Mangas. Do you wanna compare mangas offensive stats at William and Mary when he was calling plays to Callaways at Samford?

This says otherwise.

News to people around LSU. He already had extra responsibilities when they figured out Linehan wasn't worth a shite. He's not going anywhere unless someone hires him off LSU's staff.

So why exactly is your opinion the gospel and why tell others how to think.

I actually agree with you on the coaching breakdown but I have no problem looking at any other options. It does no harm to evaluate all possible avenues that the staff might possibly take.

Point me out where I said he should be fired. Or even said he would be terrible if he was given an on field role.

My point is that I don't know. And neither do 98% of the people kicking and screaming about him.

He’s a promising young offensive coach with a solid resume and people around the program speak highly of him. If you want to start using analyst spots as a feeder to on-field positions, it’s good to bring in guys like Callaway to kick the tires on them and see if they are good enough for that.

That said, Peetz should be able to choose at least one guy on his side of the ball, and he’s made that choice. I like Callaway and hope he will stay at LSU in the lead offensive analyst role, but there’s no reason for all of the mental gymnastics to fit him on the field now.

You make it sound like OC isn't a possibility for him in the future. If he was some scrub they wouldn't be pushing him to the side and promoting him with also giving him extra responsibilities during the year. It's more than likely they're grooming him to be an OC one day at a major program. Whether it's LSU or not who knows. This likely why they hired Peetz too. The longer he remains part of the system the more knowledge he gains on different concepts to go with his air raid knowledge.

No, Callaway has air raid concepts to go with what Peetz knowledge is under his systems and Brady. It's all to mesh together and I'm sure Peetz wanted his guy in too.

He's going to be involved in some capacity with the gameplan. Even O speaks highly of him. I'm sure LSU wants to keep him around as long as they can. He's just going to sponge everything up can't hurt and he already had OC duties.

That's fine.

They shouldn't /hopefully won't squeeze him into a 6th offensive position like the people here are clamoring for, leaving 3 defensive coaches to repair a broken defense. All major programs have a minimum of 4 defensive coaches and almost all have two DB coaches, which the rant now views as a sin against Corey Raymond to consider.

I think that was before they decided on mangas as pgc.

Im pretty sure mangas took callaway's spot.

The only other way is if he gets mickey joesphs spot. Then mangas would coach the receivers and callaway would work with the qbs

Ok cool but there have been multiple reports he has already been moved to an on the field position. So I think that's the confusion here. I don't care if he stays or goes but something doesn't add up here.

Which is what we don't understand haha. Mangas doesn't deserve that spot based on his resume. Calloway does. I'm not going to beat the horse though because I'm happy about Peetz

I didn't say anything close to that. I'm saying he shouldn't have been a possibility for OC at LSU RIGHT NOW.

Maybe but I think they'd just move him somewhere else. Joseph might be on this staff when the investigations are done anyway. They might be anticipating that. Seems like he could easily be implicated in that.

Callaway WAY better!

From Peetz' perspective, this is complete nonsense. What matters is the Brady connection and familiarity. Callaway may be a superstar that nobody knows about yet, but in his first year Peetz needs his No 1 to be in sync and not have to wait for him to catch up.
