a lot of LSU fans are being like that...but for me personally, I just like to see someone else meltdown for a change. Because God knows, LSU fans melt down with the best of them. We have some miserable fans.

We're not scared of Bama. Notice how no one is frightened with who they might replace Saban with. We're scared of being in the same division with the best coach in football. Why is that a shock to anyone?

Spin it how you want. Let us LSU fans be your only solace when he leaves you. That's fine with us. We're just happy that it looks like he's leaving. Saban is the single most important person in the college football landscape, and I'm happy to be able to compete for SEC titles without him in the way.

Hell, LSU fans are falling all over themselves saying they don't care if he leaves or not. I'm not sure whom they are trying to convince, us or themselves.

Perceived infliction of pain.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we are in the same conference, division, rivals and share a coach in our program's history. Also, Tiger fans generally view Gumps as entitled, arrogant and ignorant, while Bama fans view LSU fans as over-the-top and extremely whiny. Given that backdrop, the extremes of both fan bases are evident on this board with what is going on at the moment with Saban.

The silence relative to the contract extension is deafening. Normally, these things appear to get done quickly, as evidenced by Auburn moving fast on Malzahn.

It seems that the Alabama AD would have simply commented that they were working on extension and looked to get it done within the next few days or weeks if that was something that Saban was truly interested in doing with Bama.

Logically, you would think, given Sabin's age, he would simply be looking to squeeze the maximum amount out of Bama with the thought that he would retire in the next few years. That may be how this ends.

While none of us can definitively state what is going on at the moment, the appearance given by the silence relative to his intentions regarding the Bama extension likely says a lot.

I have no problem stating that I hope he leaves. And as pointed out earlier - best coach and best team in the division. Granted, I think LSU would still be in a recruting battle with him even at Texas but hell yes I want him to leave. Only reason I did not get as excited when Spurrier left is that we had Saban at the time.

But of course it goes deeper than that - that little bastard was ours and he left and then came back to an in division rival - you bama folks can say it is not a rivalry - but your boy Bear Bryant marked the measure of a good season by beating LSU, Tenn and Auburn.

So why is any Bama fan surprised that we would be excited that he left?

Nobody is surprised at the fact you want him to leave. We're just humored by how badly you want it to happen.

Exactly... At least We didn't erect a statue after 2003. Your arch nemesis leaves your division, of course our fan base may smile. I personally don't care if he stays or goes. Alabama fans are no better than LSU fans. Just like you guys didn't rub it in our face when he left the Dolphins and came to Alabama... A team we play every year. I somewhat understand the fan base laughing at you if he was to leave. I think the Bama meltdown would be somewhat comical. What goes around comes around.

I guess its just nice to be on top where all we have to worry about is ourselves. Unlike LSU fans who spend as much time worrying about Alabama as they do their own team.

This, Also, not happy about the pipeline to Louisiana recruits Nick has been developing lately...need that to end. We are about to bury you guys in recruiting the next two years, they are the best few years for Louisiana Football ever. This years number one recruit LF will announce to LSU soon, next years number 1 already has. We are having to let 4 stars go as no room.

And I was happy when Bear Bryant retired too. Not that I didn't like him personally, because I did but because like I told all the bama fans when he lives you are coming back to the pack with the rest of us. If Bear Bryant personally came to recruit you, you signed period.

Do you realize the unmitigated hell Bama fans were catching from the time Shula was fired until Saban was hired? It was ruthless and relentless from rival fans (especially LSU and Auburn fans) and even ESPN was making fun of us. Everyone thought were delusional idiots for daring to think Saban would even give us the time of day. Yet when he did take the job it went from ridicule to "Alabama is ruining college football paying a coach $4 million a year" and "Saban is such an evil liar". No wonder Alabama fans lashed out at LSU fans at the time.

kharma bites...i think i can speak for a lot of the LSU base in that we'd love to see the sense of betrayal we felt when saban went to alabama out of the alabama base when he goes to texas...

I think the LSU bama rivalry will be less intense without saban so I would be bittersweet about it. My gf is a Texas fan so I would be happy for her if they got him and it might make watching the games with her more fun.
