Who has the busiest phone today?

D. Jimmy Sexton, answering calls from A, B, and C.
Or
E. Alleva calling the agent of whoever he has the deal with (think of it as a silent committment) making sure he isn't going to change his mind and commit to A, B or C.

After being an amateur follower of the Coaching Carousel for 20+ years, I have come to the conclusion that the normal rule for an AD to operate with is: Don't fire a coach until you know who his replacement is.
When a coach leaves for another job (say Jimbo comes to LSU) then the AD probably doesn't know who his replacement will be. But, when a coach is fired, an AD doesn't walk into the president's office and say, "I'm gonna fire the HC today. We need to get a job opening ad ready so we can start the hiring process."
That's my working hypothesis. But, I'm just an amateur follower. I know nothing.

I truly hope you are correct. I just have a tough time putting my faith in Alleva and F. King. After last years stupidity, hopefully, they are smart enough to handle this hire in an appropriate manner.

Funny how you go to a UT board and people aren't really that confident in getting Herman, but the Texas fans on TD seem to believe he is destined to coach in Austin next year.

Just a little more information. Something that y'all may like, but something I might get nervous over.
I went to that Longhorn thread and the guy who started it posted this:
Now, if that happens I could be a real jerk and say, "See, I told y'all that LSU had an agreement with Herman before they fired Miles." But, along with that making me a jerk, it would make me a liar.
It would not surprise me to see Herman at LSU and Jimbo at Texas. But, if it happens, I can claim nothing more than saying, "Well, that is one of several logical scenarios that were reasonable on October, 9."
Y'all hang in there. Whoever you get, he will look like a great hire on paper. And, if Jimbo is your guy, then we at FSU will hire someone who looks like a great hire on paper.
The problem is they don't play football on paper, they play it on grass.
