jim mora jr - don't think he'd be a bad second tier guy if we get turned down by the top crew

It would be someone from an NFL background like Doug Marrone.

No I don't want that but I promise you no one would see that coming.

PJ Fleck or Chip Kelly for different reasons.

No one know Fleck.

No one thinks Kelly has any interest in leaving the NFL.

The closest comparison to Nick Saban at Michigan State is Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia. Saban had a 34-24-1 record (.585 winning percentage) at Michigan State. Holgorsen has a 39-28 record at West Virginia (.582 winning percentage)

Saban isn't a raging alcoholic so really, there is no comparison.

PJ Fleck

I think Fleck is a good coach, but I'm wary of flavors of the week from the MAC. I think he needs to cut his teeth elsewhere first.

Turner Gill, Darrell Hazel, Tim Beckman, Dave Doeren were all quick hires out of that league recently and they didn't take jobs close to the level of LSU.

Most of the coaches who found success after leaving the MAC took another stepping stone first (Meyer, Jones, Kelly).

Brian Kelly. I think he wants out of Notre Dame. I think he's a damn good coach who's just burnt out at a place that isn't as easy to win at as it once was.

Mike MacIntyre would be a home run hire that not many would know about.

If no one sees it coming, how can anyone post his name here?

Sean Payton get canned because the Saint's defense sucks. He is hired by Coach O to be the offensive coordinator. Lead by Coach O, Sean Payton, and Dave Aranda LSU goes on to dominate college football for the next three seasons.

After year three Saban retires and Bama hires Sean Payton to be the head coach. LSU's offense once again declines. The process starts over.

The rant melts

Wow. You know, come to think of it, Marrone is a very good coach.

LSU isn't the same program as it was when we hired Saban. If we get a coach now that "nobody sees coming"- more than likely it'll be horrible news for us.
