For now, it's 1 game. And he's from Louisiana.

O coached at Nichols state, April played at Nichols state many years before. They were also coaches for New Orleans albeit at different times and both from South Louisiana. They have been aquatinted for many years I'm sure.

his 1 game stint might just be an audition , O can decide if he offers permanent based on that, my guess

Exactly what i thought too. I would love to keep him on in shadow capacity even if he isn't STC next year.

Coach O saw him guzzling Red Bull's and hired him without an interview

he is a freaking great ST coach that doesn't need this job. He is just helping out. The shadow coach teaching the GA or whomever would be great though.

eta: who is old as dirt as well. Is LSU trying to go Senior Citizens with it's coaches?

I mean the guy has been employed in the NFL for a long time and you don't stay there not knowing what your doing. Not to mention he was ST coach of the year a couple times. I think the fact that he is willing to help out in whatever capacity they use him in is a great thing. After the bowl game I think he would probably be a consultant at most. He hasn't coached in college since the 90's and probably wouldn't add much as a recruiter, nor do I think that is something that he want want to deal with on a daily basis.
