Forget coordinators for a second. If you could build the perfect OC to match with what LSU already has in place, what would it look like?

I'll be honest, I love the idea of a briles or helfrich running 90 plays a game, because they definitely know how to score points. But there is something to be said for a little more clock control to keep your defense fresh. There is a reason those type of teams, ie oregon, baylor, louisville have never really had dominating defenses. I honestly wonder what aranda would think about that plan.

That's part of the main reason I was so excited about Herman or jimbo. It seems like both have found a good mixture of aggressive and efficient play calling, while not wearing out the defense. (I'm looking more at Ohio st offense under Herman than his Houston stint)

Bama obviously has the perfect mixture. So even though I'm not super excited about kiffins play calling sometimes, I do enjoy that style more.

I'll take and be happy with any of the above, but if we start running true HUNH, I wouldn't expect a top 5 defense anymore, statistic-wise. And maybe that's okay.

The Offense Urban Runs

There is power running, QBs make plays with their feet, but really are pass first.

You don't need Peyton Manning to run it effectively.

Sweet. We're all 3 on the same page. Now who does that lol?

Besides the guy that alleva gave up on hiring because he's a sissy man.

I agree with the power spread, similar to what Clemson runs, Louisiana produce the best athletes to do so.

Oh yea, Clemson too. It's got a few pro style elements passing wise too which is cool.

Matt Canada from Pitt. Honestly tho I feel any "spread" coach like briles or helfrich would adjust more to that since they'd be in the SEC.

power spread at LSU would be nice

I just gotta shake my head when some people say they don't want a briles or urban like power spread here bc they throw too much. its like they ignore all the stats right in front of them.

The last thing LSU needs is a pass happy Hal Mumme type offense. Louisiana produce some of the best running backs in the country. They will start to overlook us for running programs.

Yeah after about 9 games a few years ago, briles offense was avg 350 rush and 300 passing.

If give my 4th testicle for that kind of production. I just think les killed all the fans regarding TOP. I don't want to abandon that style, to some degree at least. If you have a defense like LSU, playing keep away an be very beneficial.

I guess my point of the thread is... Fans need to realize it's all tied together.

If you're asking what OC would best compliment LSU's personnel for next season, then your answer is Matt Canada

nobody is asking for a passing spread, though

look up they Baylor offensive stats from the past few years and see how balanced they are.

Yeah against Big 12 though. We put up 638 on Texas Tech, who led the NCAA in total offense last year.

And our D also held them to 399.

We also put up over 600 yards against the two Big 12 teams we played this year, Mizzou and A&M.

Briles would have success in the SEC for sure, but nothing like the big 12. I would rather Kevin Wilson, his resume is top notch and his firing was way more tame than rape coverup.

Or Matt Canada, he's done well everywhere he's been and has developed some good QB's.

This right here. Ed Warrinster (Spelling?) Urban's OC had his name come up this week as a possible option if Kiffin goes to UH.

Briles is perfect. Spread, qb success and still a top 5 rushing team.

I really like Herman's offense/OSU

Any spread or pro concept can be slowed down to control top and rest the D. Up to the coach to balance all of that. Most that do the hunh equate the more plays equal more points theory. True but ya always give up more as well so the point differential may not be much different than a let's say a miles led offense. At the end of the day it's about how good your players are

I think pro style is the best for LSU. As in almost exactly what we have right now (I'd prefer less zone blocking run plays but it's what we have to run with the o-line talent we have - not enough horses - can't get a good enough push up front to run any thing else). But Miles' playcalling, the lack of QB development, and less than stellar O-line performances against good defensive fronts recently has left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth.

I'm telling you though, a well executed pro style offense with the defenses we put out every year = championship. Pro style is tailor-made for a good defensive team.

ETA: And I'm not gonna lie I also love watching pro style the most. The spread is fricking boring and soft. Watching the screens and 5 and 10 yard out routes all game... no thanks.

Spread I and throw in some Snag. You can use Under Center or Shot Gun. Depends on how you use the H Back and Y Tight End.

my big concern is that O doesn't know what he wants to do. he's a prostyle guy but his offer to that other QB when we already have 2 commits concerns the hell out of me. I hear he's considering offering another spread type guy for '17. it's like he's pushing Brennan out the door.
