The guy has won one game a year with any significance and then gets absolutely destroyed in the CFP. But but but he can recruit better at LSU. bullshite. OU can go anywhere in the country and get players. I’m just not a fan and don’t think he’s the answer to our program going forward.

He’s an elite QB coach, offensive mind and play caller

I think the obvious question mark is the defensive side of the ball but to be fair to him he kinda got stuck with his former DC and the only DC hire he has made was Grinch which was a good hire. Gives me hope that if it is him he would make a good DC hire.

How is it bullshite?

Explain?

He clearly doesn't have the horses to compete in the playoffs, but he constantly turns out heisman worthy QBs. Not sure how you wouldn't want that at LSU.

Imagine having someone remote close to Burrow every single season and never once having to worry about QB play. His 5 star QB happen to struggle this year and he had another one ready on deck that he was willing to go to.

He would have better defensive talent at LSU. That is 100% fact.

Looks like you answered your own question.

The guy is a great offensive mind and he's produced at least two, maybe three, Heisman winners in a row.

He needs to hire the right DC IMO.

He's up there in my top choices. I wouldn't' hate the hire.

He's a good coach and I think he would have some success at LSU. Would he be able to recruit THAT much better at LSU? I'm not sure. I would be happy if he was the next coach here like a lot of others are. But, I'm not sold on him as a home run/can't miss hire. If he's already at a top 10 job pulling top 10 classes and struggling with some teams in the Big 12, what's gonna happen in the SEC? It's something to think about IMO.

He went to the playoffs with Stoops' recruits. And still lost.

Then when his 1st class became seniors, he didn't even make the playoffs.

Food for thought.

You say this as if making the playoffs is easy

It's not and most coaches aren't consistently making it there

For years we've said that making the playoffs from the Big 12 was just that, easy. Now we're changing our tune.

At best, you could say it was a mix of Bob's recruits and Lincoln's.

Without going into too much detail, it would be way longer, OU would have never made it to the playoffs in 2017, 2018, or 2019 without a bunch of guys that were brought to OU by Lincoln or to play in Lincoln's offense. RB Trey Sermon, QB Kyler Murray, WR Ceedee Lamb, WR Hollywood Brown, WR Charleston Rambo, TE Grant Calcaterra, RB Kennedy Brooks, QB Jalen Hurts, WR Jeff Badet, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, WR Geno Lewis, etc. You could technically include OL (Creed Humphrey, for example, doesn't go to OU if Lincoln isn't the OC).

Lincoln's first class as HC was the 2018 class. They weren't seniors last year when OU missed the playoffs.

If you meant his first class as an OC, well, that wouldn't be worth arguing. Lincoln's first true class as an OC was complete trash (2016).

1000% agree. Flashy hire on paper but I’m not convinced he’d field teams that would be truly elite in the sec

2019 for example, only bc it’s pertaining to LSU and the sec, the coaches apparently made it known that OU was no better than the 3rd or 4th beat team we played that year when compared to our conference schedule.

That seems about right watching them over the years. When the sec is the sec that we are used to, the powerhouses of the big 12 are just typical teams, nothing special.

I don’t view him as can’t miss. The lack of defense and physicality doesn’t impress me.
