Miami set a record with 11 draft picks in a single draft in 2001 and Larry Coker was able to win a NC with that much talent. From 2013 to 2015, FSU had 11, 7 and 11 draft picks. They tied that record twice in a three year span with a great year sandwiched in between.

Gene Chizik had a Heisman winning #1 overall draft pick at QB and was able to ride him to a national title. Jimbo had the same thing with Winston, although Jimbo got Winston for two seasons.

I like Jimbo and think he would be successful here but I don't want to be dependent on stock piling record amounts of talent to be in contention for a NC. Can he replicate that kind of success or was it an exceptional run where so many recruits worked out? Jimbo recruited and developed that talent, but is his formula repeatable? Without looking it up, I am guessing that is easily the record for most draft picks in a three year span since the NFL went to 7 rounds.

Well my reply would be if you want to win consistently like Alabama you have to stockpile your program with five star JI'm myself and Joes... I mean this isn't rocket science

These are 4 and 5 star recruits we're talking about

They were supposed to work out.

You're correct about all of that. Jimbo is suspect. I don't know why he's in our top three.

My concern is he may not have as much championship drive left. I'm not saying he doesn't.

That is the type of run (talent wise) that very few coaches ever see once in their career. Was it a necessary part of his success and will he ever do it again? Les Miles never had that much talent and he won one NC and made another championship game appearance in the last 10 years.

So losing 11 players to the draft and still being able to go undefeated and win a national championship makes him suspect?

Nick Saban changed from that O because it couldn't compete against spread O's. It just can't generate enough O to keep up. Jamis is an amazing talent, and brought them back from huge deficits in 2013, so if you hire Jimbo, find more Jamis'. I like how Saban has evolved. He runs a spread, but switches to old school pound you against out of date coaches like Les.

FIFY

Other than the NCG, FSU annihilated teams in 2013.

Yes, what does that have to do with the three year run FSU had? Nick Saban also hasn't produced that much NFL talent in any 3 year stretch.

Jimbo assembled those teams and deserves all credit for their success, but he did it in a way that will be very hard for him or anyone else to repeat.

Doesn't Alabama stockpile record breaking talent every year?
