Well that can't be right. I was told by OU folks on here that a blue blood keeps the coaches they want and can hire any coach they want to replace them if they leave. They should have been able to pull Dabo because of how prestigious their program is, right?

One of their players said he missed this.

I don't know who to believe.

Any word on how long the meeting was? There’s certain arbitrary benchmarks you’re required to hit or else you are a monster

Actually a solid hire for Oklahoma if true. Not the big splash hire, but nonetheless a good hire. Venables would actually get them to bring a defense into the SEC, which will be vital.

But yeah, I'll still troll the shite out of arrogant OU fans anyway, because yes they're that insufferable and yes they truly do honestly believe that all they'd have to do is pick up the phone, and Belichick or $aban would immediately be on a flight to Norman. They'll say, "Well we got Venables because he's who we wanted. If we had wanted $aban, he'd be here." And they'll say that head to head, Venables is a better defensive coach than N$ too...

I'm telling you, I'll hear these things verbatim at work tomorrow, I swear it. I'm already mentally prepared to smile and nod while containing my laughter.

you must be experiencing a small sample of OU fans..probably just the ones that come over to the rant.

most OU fans that have been fans for any significant amount of time are aware that OU never (except the schnelly experiment in 95) hires existing head coaches.

There’s 2 flights coming into OUN at relatively same time. 1 from South Carolina and other from Vegas. Dabo was in Vegas today.

It is a small sampling I chose to vent about, mostly younger guys I work with. The longtime OU fans I know are more grounded in the program's history and how they do things.

One of the current players at Clemson debunked this tweet right after it was posted, saying that he didn't attend any such meeting and didn't hear about any meeting either
