So what happens if Texas offers Aranda more than LSU was intending on paying him?
Is Joe going to throw another hissy fit and let Aranda walk, only to promote Raymond to fill the DC position?

Coach O needs to have his ducks lined up at all times if wants the best coordinators they will always be pursued by other teams

It wouldn't have gone over well with the same emotional and irrational people who currently think Alleva handled this process competently or professionally.

This is one of the reasons Aleva didn't let anybody make him overpay. So he can pay Aranda to keep him at LSU

He would have had no reason too really, with the exception of a handful of positions, LSU is in good shape. Texas on the other hand, is a dumpster fire.

I agree with you in principle, but I think Alleva was eager to name his coach ASAP so he could hit the ground running with recruiting and naming his staff. If Alleva gets in a pissing match with Texas over Herman, we probably still end up with O, but will have wasted several days to a week to get the same result.
