Not easy to do...but sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. I'd bet a caniac combo we're going to have a top 10 OC/DC combo when all things said and done

I think this is a good example for the need to push back ESD a little more. Kelly knew time was short and they needed to put a staff in place, but you don't go through the efforts to tear a guy like that away from Notre Dame and just hodge podge a staff together.
Without ESD, this would be a complete non issue.

Would it be out of the realm of possibility that Kelly is planning on acting as OC & DC??
I remember there was a rule that if you’re down coaches you get extra recruiting benefits. Maybe he wants to act on that and believes he can handle both responsibilities himself. I know he has experience calling plays on Offense and I think he’s a bright enough guy to run a defense. It could save money too.

Coach O hired Jones who was his 5th choice. Not defending O, but it wasn’t the first person he talked to.
Peetz was recommended by Brady, which at the time everyone idolized.
I trust Coach Kelly, but at some point he needs to hire someone.

His hires will, or will not, win games, put butts in the seats, encourage people to donate. You can say he doesn't owe us jack squat, and it's true, but indirectly he does owe us a product worth supporting. He's getting paid 10 million a year. The pressure is on to produce immediately, or at least show some tangible results that he's rebuilding the program. The longer he goes without those results, ie, coaching hires, holding on to the recruits we have and bringing in more, the more the pressure mounts. The poster upthread's point stands. We're waiting, because that's all we can do right now. But if he brings in some meh coordinators after all this song and dance, some questions will arise, and rightfully so.
