I thought Aranda is around $2M at LSU now. No?
Yup, my bad...

Aranda will make $1.8 million next year, $1.85 in 2018 and $1.9 in 2019

Then provide a link where he doesn't want to be a head coach... I mean it was widely reported Les was heading to Michigan, it was widely reported Herman was coming to LSU, I need proof rather than just people's assumptions.

Stop already. The man said he and his family are happy here and he just took an upgrade in pay. He is officially the assistant Head Coach. I would venture to say he is also the next in line to be Head Coach.

I was thinking Minnesota would be a great opportunity to take control of the B1G West in a cool city with a relatively new stadium, but it sounds like the situation is toxic.

God bless Lester. he will clean up Dodge and recruit with the best of them.

he will get to the Big ten Champ game once and then retire. 3 or 4 years to do it.

Next in line where? LSU? So he is going to wait until they get rid of O? It isn't like Jimbo at FSU with Bowden.

Coaches say they are happy all the time and still leave.

I am, however, every coach has a goal to eventually lead a program. Haven't heard one yet say he doesn't want to be in control.
People are saying that Aranda doesn't want to be a HC like he has come out and said it, if that is true I would like to see it.

Well that's not true.

Can you post a link? I do not like when people make assumptions about coaches goals

Well, first off, both of those WERE happening until it got leaked.
Les met with Michigan and indicated he would accept the job. Then UM leaked it and he had to kill the news cycle because we were getting ready to play for a championship.
Herman and LSU had a handshake agreement in place until a UT booster leaked it, forcing UTs hand to fire Strong. When Herman told Alleva he wanted to hear out Texas, Alleva pouted and told him to shove it.
Both of those fricking happened. When there is that much smoke... there is a fire somewhere.

Now onto some common sense... why in the world would Aranda come out to the media and say "I dont want _____"? He wouldnt. It would be dumb.
But why were there so many reports, citing LSU insiders, that they believed Aranda's ultimate goal is NFL DC... and then maybe HC? Again. Smoke = Fire

Sure. Just not a college program.
Lots of extracurriculars go along with being a college HC. Great deal of that doesnt exist as a NFL coach.
Some guys hate the schmoozing of boosters or the fickle nature of recruiting.

Which coaches don't want to lead a program? Or where has a coach said they have no desire. I'm sure you could probably name Bud Foster who has accepted his position and I know certain coaches have always been career coordinators but is that because they wanted to or no offer.

Doubt Aranda wants to just be a DC for the rest of his career based on how he has moved up the ladder.

Doubt LSU "insiders" are the best source of information after all that has happened the last two seasons.

Pretty sure it was Herman's camp who leaked it b/c he wanted to force Texas into action.

Well, Alleva screwed up your search, but moving on from Herman was the right call (even if the eventual hire he made wasn't). Herman was never going to take the LSU job if he had a choice of Texas or LSU. Alleva knew that Texas was going to offer Herman so he cut bait on his own.

tduecen, let it go. Coach Aranda is staying here for at least the next season. Fact. EVERYTHING else is pure conjecture. Good Lord.

Not even sure that is a fact until all positions in CFB have been filled. Until then there is always a chance for him to leave even if it is slim.

Of course he wants to be a head coach. You're asking LSU fans to be rational about something they don't want to think about.
