Because he "is Louisiana" and he is "dedicated to LSU," and because its his dream job.

Please tell me, how is that working out for Johnny Jones?

You hire the most talented coach. Not the best recruiter or the person who loves LSU the most. Hopefully Joe learned this with the JJ hire.

This really is not a good comparison and certainly not worthy of a new thread. Ed O has a world of greater experience and has a better reputation as a recruiter around the state than Jones ever dreamed of. Just a bad comparison.

Johnny Jones was a head coach in the SEC and PAC-10 before coming to LSU? It sucks Bilj.

Johnny came up under Dale. Ed came up under Pete and Jimmy.

Comparing O to Jones before being hired to LSU is not a good comparison. O has more experience, failures, and successes. He has a much larger body of work to examine. It us a bad comparison that is not clever or genuine in any way. Its simply inaccurate

Eh, I think its more about what youve produced on your own rather than who taught you. Jones actually had a better resume as a HC than Orgeron.

Ridiculous. Was successful at naia school. Not same as having success at USC level school.

I agree. Johnny Jones has much more experience as a head coach than O.

Johnny Jones also had a winning record as a head coach and Yaw Yaw does not.

QUIT POSTING THIS shite!!! I think this is what Ponamsky is being paid to do--stir up fake support before the first game.

Anyone ever wonder why no one offered HC Ogeron a job after SC?

Something about him not going over well at the Country Clubs in Los Angeles.

His record the rest of the year will not warrant consideration anyway.

Relax. Yaw Yaw Wild Boy will not be permanent.

Do most LSU fans view this 8 game stretch to be a potential audition for the full time job if say, he wins 7 or 8 games and beats Bama?

Yes, but no one offered him a HC job--Southern Miss, LA Tech, Fresno State, Syracuse, no one--but suddenly he fits in at LSU????

NO 1000x--go be a success somewhere else for multiple seasons just like every other candidate in the interview process

My biggest fear with star gazing and reaching for a young coach is getting a coach who'll have 2 or 3 successful years before he bolts to the NFL.

If Coach O earns it, I have no problem with him getting the job and putting his guy in for offense. If he doesn't then none of this matters.

Very well could happen, however in the famous words of Mitch Hedburg, "Im not going to not eat an apple because it will eventually be a core."

Sure why not? If Ed O wins out and brings home another NC, most posters would likely be happy for him to stay.
