Sources of 247Sports.com tell us that Strong is currently debating the head coach vs defensive coordinator path after Texas. He still wants to coach, but a source said he's not sure if he wants everything that comes with being a head coach after what he went through at Texas right now.

Taggart-Strong could be a scary good combo

I would think he'd go to USF first though

Taggart/Strong combo would be nice for Oregon, big shift from where they've been.

USF is a perfect fit for him, I doubt he turns it down. But man would that be a home run hire for Taggart.

Taggart/Strong combo would be lights out recruiting FL (and most other places for that matter).

If Strong goes to USF and keeps a lot of Taggart's staff intact there, that's probably a 9 win+ team next year. I don't see why he wouldn't do that, good way to get back on the horse and show that he's not a bad coach.

People that want Kiffin want Strong to go to USF and people that want Hilfrich or Canada want Strong to go to Oregon. Everybody is rooting for Strong lol.

Wait...so he's not sure if he wants to be a HC again but he's interviewing for the usf job today? I call bullshite. Really doubt he'd pass on that HC job if offered.

It would help for sure, I just don't think there is a huge population of guys that are okay with the distance from home.

My concern would be trying too hard in that area and getting early bites because it's Oregon, and then losing guys at the end because it's too far, but you haven't locked up the Cali guys and now you're stuck.

They aren't saying he doesn't want to be a HC again, they are saying he is debating which path he wants to take to get another big time job

Pros and cons to both

USF, no doubt, IMO. That program has incredible potential. Skip Holtz really drove it into the ground. Leavitt did well there and Taggart re-built it.

But I think it's easier to prove your worth as an HC as an HC there than as a DC at Oregon.

Just hard to see him going to Oregon when he'll probably get an offer from USF.

Looks like Scott Shafer is also on the list.
