The guys is an up and coming OC and a QB guru. Did a great job the one year at Texas under Charlie Strong. Makes $900,000 a year....has he been mentioned as a viable candidate?

Remember, Texas had 0 Elite WR talent this year. Had 2 converted QBs play the position. Imagine what he can do with Anderson, Sullivan, Chark, Drake Davis....I can go on and on with this

Also Guice would be a guaranteed 2,000 yard rusher. Gilbert is #1 on my list

Watch UT offense replays from this year. UT offense is a high school offense.

I suggest you do some research rather than looking at a couple of YouTube highlights

Well I'm not sure if he's ready to take on a task like Lsu. We need someone that can completely rebuild the offense and make all the offensive personell decisions. I'm not sure sterling has proven enough to take on that responsibility. I would rather someone like kiffin or helfrich who has been a HC before because in a sense they will be the HC of the offense. If not those two take the pr hit and go with art.

I'm sure he's a good coach. However, wasn't that long ago he was coaching in high school. I would prefer someone more experienced.

Why is it that people think we can just go hire a head coach to be the offensive coordinator? Every time a younger coach is mentioned it's immediately shut down by a lot of people on this board because he doesn't have the experience to be at LSU. News flash.... those up and coming coaches that are obviously good are the ones you want. They are more dedicated to building something with a school instead of staying a year and taking another job. Sterlin Gilbert is a great offensive mind that fits exactly what we are looking for scheme wise. So, before you dismiss a coach maybe you should look at the statistics from their offenses. Just an FYI, Helfrich hasn't really called plays all that much and when he did it didn't work out as well as everyone seems to think. He has historically made offenses worse.

I like sterling but i worry he's not quite ready.. Just an opinion. Helfrich hadnt always called plays but the last 4 years that was his offense. He didn't run same system as Kelly. He didn't call plays but it was a good offensive team. And ppl at Oregon said he did most of the game planning and crested the play sheets Kelly was more of the situational caller. He's developed every qb he's had and done great things with them and they were all different types of qb. At Boise and Asu he set records. And Colorado which is the only school ppl look at and say he didn't do well because he didn't improve statistical as much but he still did good things there. He is highly regarded as a great offensive mind that has coached on some great offenses. He will be a highly sought out OC for someone who supposedly has regressed offenses.
