Guess there's always a chance but why trade a job that won't fire you at 9-3 for one that will.

If I were Boom I would make a deal to be the coach in waiting at SCAR.

Sure, except for the fact that the NCAA has outlawed that.

They haven't outlawed it, they just changed the recruiting rules so that the HCIW has the same restrictions as the HC and now its very stupid to do so.

Boom will get the Assistant Head Coach title and a great chance at becoming the HC in 3 years.

Now this I can believe. However, I still think it's about a 10% chance. AU just seems like a much more inviting place right now plus they'll pay out the ying yang.

I don't think anybody is gonna go above 1.7 million a year and USC would match that

USC would seem like the most logical destination since Spurrier probably isn't going past 2017 and the offense doesn't try to get off the field ASAP.

Who's the highest paid assistant now?

I would think his ties to AU would be more attractive to him. I'm pulling for to go to AM

It was Chad Morris at 1.3 a year but hes off to SMU so I'm not sure who it is now.

Probably about to be Muschamp though

Why not? We paid the last guy over a million a year, I could see us doubling that for someone better.

Allegedly already matched 1.5

Ellis Johnson made 1 mil when he was here iirc

I really don't think we would pay that much for a coordinator. If we would, A&M and Auburn could outbid us.

I still think Ward is the right guy... I think he is a top notch defensive mind/strategist and our players believe in him. Our real problem is assistants. We need guys who know how to actually f'in coach on that side of the ball. Yeah, that falls on Ward, but if he has half a brain, and I think he does, we'll make the right moves in the offseason. You have to remember, this is only his third year as a DC and hasn't had to make many hires. I think after this season, he'll learn that hiring/managing your staff and fundamentals is as important as making play calls.

I hated the Ward hire in 2011 (I wanted Randy Shannon or Mark Stoops) but have changed my mind and think Ward is alright, mostly because he recruits the hell out of ATL.

That said, Boom is a better coach. If its possible, the best case scenario would be to hire Boom as the assistant head coach, leave Ward with the DC title and fire Botkin or Adams. Botkin is the better coach, Adams the better recruiter.

Thats a pipedream though and if we hire Boom hes gonna want to put together his own staff

Don't you have your own coach that you are trying to run off?
