E mail i received from a USM alum/booster.

Here is the news…
Giannini is going to interview 6 candidates. Rumored that the base salary for a new coach will be between $600,000 & $750,000.
It has been confirmed that G will interview, possibly as soon as this weekend:
- Tyrone Nix
- Will Muschamp
- Chris Hatcher (Georgia Southern head coach)
- There is a strong possibility that Jimbo Fisher will interview, however this has not been confirmed.
- Also unconfirmed that Terry Bowden will interview.
Tyrone Nix news: It was reported by news outlets in SC that Nix was going to be offered the job. This is NOT true. G has already stated that Tyrone has not been offered the job and an offer will not be made until all interviews are completed. In fact, someone in Tyrone’s camp may be the source of the false information. Sources inside the USM athletic department (aka rumor) say that these “leaks” from Tyrone’s camp have diminished the already slim chance he had at landing the job.
Will Muchamp news: If Tubby goes to Arkansas, Muschamp wants a chance at the Auburn job, for which he will likely be considered. He is also in the running for the GT job.
Chris Hatcher news: Rumor has it that Chris Hatcher is on the short list and is considered to be a very strong prospect.
The Others: Fedora & Applewhite are both in the running for the Houston job. Nothing new to report on them as far as the USM job is concerned.

If USM wants to win and get a good coach who the fans will be happy about, they need to get the checkbooks out and PAY.
I heard SMU is willing to pay about 2 mill for their next coach.

usm doesn't have near the cash smu does. i would actually like to see any of those guys there other than retread bowden.

Coach Jay Thomas and Coach Daryl Daye were seen in Ms the last couple of days. Thomas and Daye both were GAs and friends with Favre. Both DL, DC, ahd HC coaches. Who did they meet with??

I had heard the same thing from a buddy connected with the Auburn coaching staff. He says Tubby's stalling waiting on LSU, and Muschamp is stalling on other positions (not identified) waiting on Tubby's position. He indicated that Muschamp would be seriously considered for the Auburn position, if it became available.

HMMMMM.....why didn't I think of that. Thomas and Daye know Muschamp and Fisher from their days at LSU. Does anyone remember what Jimbo turned down at Tech? Salary that is.
