Sources also indicate that Pruitt has such a strong reputation in the coaching community that he would “no doubt” be near the top of the list for the Crimson Tide head coaching job should that job open, even without head coaching exp

I don't know about the rest of the article but this part right here?

100pct. The players do love him and the recruits do as well. Several recruits have already said if Pruitt leaves they will no longer have Georgia in their list. The fight with Shotty that happened and his issues with Greg Mcgarity are common knowledge. I would be very surprised if he is retained.

Not really concerned about him going to UGA.

Champ doesn't have a USC offer.

Champ would consider a lateral move to Georgia because that is his school and the one he played for. Doesn't mean he would take the job but that is supposedly who Kirbys agent has said he would like to hire if he were to become HC.

Kirby as SC HC
Muschamp as AHC/DC
Pruitt as a $2M Recruiting Coordinaor

and then watch the most epic bulldog melt.

Smart is the key domino. If he takes the UGA job, from all reports, Champ is first in line for the USC HC job.
The likelihood of both of those moves is pretty damned high.

If UGA passes over Smart, Kirby takes the USC job and Champ stays at Auburn. This is pretty unlikely. We'll know more in a week.

Cos there's a guy ahead of him in line who is waiting for UGA to shite or get off the pot. If Kirby takes the Georgia job, Champ will most likely get the USC job.

I actually think you might end up with Pruitt at HC.

I mean, that sounds reasonable... but I just don't believe anyone knows that much about what is going on behind the scenes.

I'd be surprised, but it's not impossible.

Apparently there are some issues inside UGA right now with Pruitt. The AD wants him gone while the board wants him retained.

Our woefully pathetic offensive coordinator and our bumbling moron AD both hate him. Everyone else in Athens loves him.

Draw your own conclusions.

I conclude that he wouldn't be a horrible hire then.

He would compete with Dabo for the South Carolina recruits and he would do well in Georgia if I had to guess. He would do pretty well. I don't know that he could do as well as Old Steve but it would be a good hire for USC in my opinion. That being said, he would ruffle feathers up the chain most likely.

Pruitt has won 3 NCs as an assistant coach in college football and is one of the best DCs in the game right now. WTH leg does Schottenheimer have to stand on for his dislike? He's never done anything as an assistant coach, pro or college.

The solution to that is to get rid of the AD. He's the problem.

Need more than that. But at this point, it'd be nice for Kirby to have made a decision so all the other dominoes can fall.
