So tired of hearing coaches won't come here due to being in the West...

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing this excuse in the media as to why we won't get ANYONE good? Like Booger said, that is a losers mentality...and anyone who enjoys competing in this sport should actually relish the task of trying to take Saban down. I personally think all the top names out there for us will not look at this as a downfall to coaching LSU....anyone else feel that way?

If that is the case, than how come the West is loaded with some of the best coaches in the nation?

Coaches dont think the way of normal people. They arent scared of coaching against the best. They have egos. It is a requirement of the profession.

Coaches will go to where they are paid the most. If they were concerned about a tough schedule then small conference schools wouldn't be seen as stepping stones.

Piles of cash overrides the difficulty of the SEC west.

I think it is more the perception that year 1 LSU expects a top 5 season and disappointed outside the top 10.
Compare that to year 1 at top 5-10 schools like USCw, Texas, UF, UGA, Notre Dame or UM recently and a top 25 season gets a you a raise and extension
Coaches want to make sure they have time to implement their scheme, culture and overhaul the general system of doing things

I think Fisher would salivate at the oppurtunity, lets hope he does

If a coach honeslty doesnt want to come to LSU because they are scared of the other coaches, we dont want them here.

This. Timid people do not do well at our school.

Those are jsut trolls
playing in the SEC was a selling point when Sumlin and Bert were heading to A&M and Arkansas
Saban could have gone anywhere, or left for anywhere and he is still at Bama.
Good coaches want big games, big money and big stadiums.

I agree for the most part but there are exceptions. Some coaches are the kind of competitive where they hate losing, period. And they will take an easier schedule if it means more wins and an easier track to a national championship. I'd put urban and Dabo in that caregory

If I'm a big time coach, this is the perfect time to set up roots for the post Saban era
Why wait until he retires to come here? Why not start building the program and set it up to compete and then be able to bulldoze the league once Saban retires? You don't want to be late to the gold rush. Get there early and set up your program

He needs to focus on dethroning Dabo and maybe Patrino.
