Just seems like we've seen a bunch of underwhelming numbers so far this year.

Not at all. There haven't been any A List HC hires this year.

LSU, meanwhile is driving the market up for assistant coach salaries!

Prices for coaches that have been successful Head Coaches at lower school or Coordinators at Big 5 schools is right where it probably should be. They have yet to prove anything as of yet and there is a huge potential for them to flame out. (Strong and some others come to mind).

If Meyer or Saban for some reason wanted to move on to a different school, I assure you the numbers thrown at them would be through the roof (8-10M/yr)

Saban and Meyer could name their salary if they wanted. I truly don't believe that there is a number out there that some school wouldn't pay.

Nobody is going to pay a coach 10 million in college for several years.

You really think that Alabama would let Saban walk if he demanded 10 million? You're delusional. His work has brought hundreds of millions of dollars to that university and community. They would give him a blank check.

I think people expect like $8 million dollar contracts and really Saban and Harbaugh set the limit on these things.

He'll who would you pay more than Meer right now?

Jim Harbaugh is making a cool 9M right now. You don't think Saban would make Bama match a 10M offer?

Doesn't Sabans contract require him to be the highest paid coach if he wins the NC? Or is that a myth? I'm really not sure. If so, that puts him very close to 10M if he wins this year.

A number I'm afraid they will not be happy with in a couple years or so.
