Sloan more experienced than Rees when BK made him OC at ND

I don’t know how the search went that led to Rees’s hiring as OC, but I suspect BK wouldn’t have a problem promoting Sloan. My guess is it hasn’t been announced because he’s already on staff, and he’ll be announced when the entire staff is announced. With Baker you couldn’t keep that out of the media.

He obviously felt Rees was a prodigy

Saban also believes that now and has said as much

Sloan had a chance to show it at La Tech and was just ok

I'd think that it obviously is centered around competency, as Rees was glowingly endorsed by Nick Saban. But, Sloan, like Rees, will have an intimate familiarity with the system as a coach and former player, respectively, in the system. I think that someone is going to have to blow him away or have former connections to take the job from outside of the building. I doubt that he's trying g to make a splash hire for the sake of splashing.

The fact that we landed the number 1 QB tells me that there is a plan and I’m sure it involves retaining Sloan. The rest is just background noise at this point.

It’s CBK’s offense and he trusted a guy like Rees to call it, then we’re sitting pretty, fellas.

Rees is a solid OC. Only so much you can do when you are stuck with a low IQ QB like Milroe

I bet he blows up once Bama gets a real QB

If Rees had a major part in coaching up Milroe, he may be a better OC than we thought.

Rees at Bama with a loaded roster:
24 vs Texas
24 vs Ole Miss
26 vs Aggie
24 vs Arkansas
27 vs Auburn
27 vs UGA (not bad vs a very good D)
20 vs Michigan (some questionable calls)

I left off 17 vs USF since Milroe didn't play.

Good games - 42 vs LSU (our defense sucked)
49 vs Kentucky
34 vs Tenn

It's a small sample size, but Sloan did well in his debut putting up more points, more passing and more total yards on Wisconsin all season and with a new QB.

I thought Sloan added concepts and updated the tech offense when he was there. People spoke glowingly of him.

I think bk is probably going to promote from within if he can't land a guy like grubb.

I never get this argument. They don’t play against that type talent either
