Why not give this guy a chance? Pete and Aranda coached under him at Delta State University. He was a big influence on them both. Obviously enough for Aranda to hire him as his DC after coaching under him

Roberts and Aranda go way back. Long before either were in Louisiana. I doubt he'd leave Baylor unless Aranda does.

Would be a home run hire but will be hard to pull him from Aranda.

He has some LA ties and Baylor is bringing defense back to the Big 12. How much of the credit is due him IDK. But if Dave is really letting him run the D then this would be a great hire.

That's a minority opinion. Roberts is respected nationwide.

If memory serves, when Roberts was the head coach at Delta State, he hired Aranda as an assistant. Aranda returned the favor by bringing Roberts in as DC.

Roberts was a good HC at Delta and should be getting looks by G5 schools.

They go back further than that. In the late 90s, both were clinic speakers for a guy named [link=(Bill Williams)]https://www.billwilliamsfcpga.net/testimonials[/link] that had a Football Coach Professional Growth organization. He found guys that were on their way up and bright them in to speak at his clinics, and they were quality clinics, not just put a power point up for an hour and get paid for it.

Aranda was LB coach at Texas Tech and Roberts was Head Coach at Tusculum at that point, and they got to know each other through that. Anybody who's seen those videos knew then that these guys knew their shite and were going places.

ETA: It was early 2000s and Aranda was a Defensive GA at Texas Tech

Ask anyone from his SLU tenure. He's a tool.

You are correct. At the same time, Pete Golding was also coaching with them. Pete spent more years with Roberts than Aranda did

My down voters must not know him personally and are just going by what they've heard.
