Just heard it on the readio in Detroit and then checked ESPN.com. The article is there.

No, Zee. He is challenging having to pay WVU 4 million dollars. Not really sure what you mean with your question.

UM knew of this buy out. Something must be written where he pays a part of it out of his pocket.

the buyout is being challenged because RR says he was essentially duped into believing wv would take care of the things RR said the football program needed. There are some BIG money wv backers who agree with RR. This is in NO way something for RR to back out of the M deal. He couldn't go back to wv crawling.

I think it is based on the fact that WVU did not pan out all the things they promised Rod. This would perhaps be not following the contract in good faith...so there may be some wriggle room from Rod on this one.

Haven't heard anything where he specifically has to pay with his own cash. Usually the new university pays these buyouts. However, the article also stated that Beilein also challenged his buyout and had it reduced from 2.5 to 1.5 mill. Maybe this kind of stuff happens all the time.

I heard it from the Duke on ESPN Radio.

Basically he said RR is alleging fraud, bait and switch was used and the buyout in the contract is not what he agreed to originally.

I'm guessing he will end up paying the original buyout before his contract last year. I think that was 2 mil.

Article also states Beilein had issues with WVU not making due on promises. What is going on? Maybe the women's soccer coach is having issues too...like WVU not providing soccer balls or a field to play on.

If there is not a clause that says that the written contract is the complete & final version and no other provisions verbal or otherwise are applicable, then the WVU lawyers are shysters.

They will come to some sort of settlement. My guess is it will get cut in half.

These things always get worked out. Sometimes with the help of a court (as in the case of DiNardo and Vandy), most of the time without.

he also dated his resignation Jan. 3rd or the day after his bowl game...so if he is not allowed to coach the bowl game he can claim he was let go without reason, and it voids his contract and buyout clause

frankly, he's acting like a prick..I'm sure he's getting pressure from UM to follow through so they won't have to pay the buyout, but he's shattered the feelings I had about him as an honorable man

The guy may have a legitimate gripe with WVU. I wouldn't attack him just yet. And there seems to be a pattern with WVU because Beilein had the same issues with them.

Or maybe RR saw how well it worked with Beilein and decided to try it again? Seriously, though, those big $$ donors who blame the AD for RR's departure certainly seem to lend credence to the idea that WVU didn't make good on their end of the deal.

And Zee, you better hope this isn't a way for RR to back out of the deal. Otherwise, we're coming for your coach!
