I can’t understand why this name is being thrown around as much as it is ? We didn’t keep him and he was just fired from Florida. We need to do better than this.

How many DBs did he recruit and send to the NFL in his tenure at LSU?

Can it not just be that he wasn’t a fit at Florida or didn’t get along well with Billy Napier?

Sometimes it doesn’t have to be that complicated.

Didn’t seem like he fit in with Napier. I think the rails went off when Ed brought Bill Busch in To coach safeties. Raymond put more DB’s in the league than all the other coaches combined in the last 25 years. I have no problem bringing him back if Kelly is okay with it.

It was a shock to FL fans when he was fired. Something wasn’t jiving on the inside of that defense.

This is funny to me. 75% of this board can’t name more than three defensive back coaches at the college level. In other words, nobody knows what the frick they’re talking about.

Ron has had 10 jobs since left LSU. He isn’t the same guy he was 15 years ago.

His 3 year stint at LSU is the second longest of his career. He hasn’t stayed more than 2 years in one place but 3 times.

And I think he was a little "generous" with an expense report that led to him being shown the door

It’s been heavily implied that Napier fired him because he got wind that Raymond was leaving. I was disappointed when CR’s name came up, but there’s been too much smoke for it not to be headed that way.

Raymond was tailing off towards the end, but maybe just because of Orgeron. Stingley fell into his lap, but his other guys the last few years didn't develop much at LSU and the culture seemed shitty (maybe the entire locker room though). I think Aranda was the one that thought he wasn't a very good player developer and got Orgeron to bring Busch to come in.

Though, we could do worse, for sure.

He also held LSU ransom for a pay raise every damn year. That was frustrating.

This is the biggest red flag for me. Like the poster above said, we don't know shite about college football assistant coaches. But I think we all respect Aranda's football mind, and if he didn't think Raymond could handle both CBs and Safeties, that says something. I'm not sure exactly what and I wouldn't disqualify him just on it, but definitely something.

Bring Terry Joseph and Bo Davis home from Texas.

Terry poached defensive backs Wardell Mack and Derek Williams from Louisiana in the last 2 recruiting cycles.

He's coached for Kelly at Notre Dame and coached Kyle Hamilton who is beasting in the NFL.

Corey Raymond would be a bad hire!

Exactly! If he wasn't associated with lsu in the past people wouldn't be begging to have him back. It reminds me of how everyone was saying our defense will be amazing with Pelini because of what he did at lsu in the past. Sometimes the game just passes people by. It is what it is. Raymond was great once at lsu. I just don't see that happening again.

If it's him then OK. Can't get much worse than it is, but seems like a really uninspiring hire considering Kelly let him walk once and then he was subsequently fired from Florida without making much of a mark there either (recruiting or development). Also, doesn't seem like anyone else is banging down the door to hire the guy.
