Question for my auburn/lsu brethren: how did you cope with a lame duck HC?

Throughout the off season the final year of gus and les what was it like? How did you handle it? What did you do in the fall to occupy your time?

It was pretty sucky knowing you’re going into a season with no hope of being competitive for anything meaningful.

Eventually by end of summer you will buy in to the hopium and then you lose 2 of 4 and fire them.

Wait for that one bad loss. Just hope your dline coach doesn't impress the AD too much.

Heading into Les's final season we honestly felt pretty good. Cautiously optimistic if you will.
Heisman contender in Fournette, a couple guys he actually got to return as seniors (Tre White, Beckwith), new DC in Aranda, thought Brandon Harris would improve with experience. Travonte Valentine apparently existed and was gonna play.
And then came the Wisconsin game.

Just keep supporting your team. Coaches will come and go.

Went through it in 2020 with Gus and 2022 with Harsin. Not a lot you can do except self medicate and hope for better days.

LSU retaining Miles after 2015 was my lowest point as a fan. I knew he was just gonna fired the next year.
The Orgeron hire was almost equally horrifying.
I feel for Arkansas fans. It sucks knowing incompetent leadership is tanking the program you follow.

It wasn't cit and dry that Gus would be gone. Especially with the weird schedule that was played and the lost revenue due to covid in Gus'final year.
That's not to say he didn't need to be fired, but I remember being slightly surprised when I heard they pulled the trigger. So his situation doesn't really compare to Pittman.

Miles was a bit unique, he was gone already for a moment and then brought back through an emotional decision on the last game of the season the year before. The hope was he saw his mortality and would finally change his ways, he got fired 4 games into that next season after showing he was never going to change despite still having talent flowing into the program.
People forget the loser leaves town match that ended up being Miles final game. Seemed like whoever lost would fire their coach, LSU lost after not getting the last snap off (ironically) and not counting the game winner. Gus went on for another 5 years at auburn after that

The loser leaves town game was great. The joy of beating Auburn followed by the sting of Les being a retard and mismanaging the clock to finally firing him.

Be prepared to fire him within the first 4 games
The interim has already been decided upon and told of his duties

I thought Orgeron was going to be lame duck in 2018 and they won a NY6 game.

Rage my friend. Everyone sees it, but no one will admit it. Worse is you know this guy gets another year, then the new guy will need 2-3 to even see if he has the skills. So a 3-4 year turnaround at minimum.
BTW:
You guys have Rhett just setting there. Arky needs to get over that Gus thing and just hire him. He is a beast on the trail and can manage a team well

After a decent bowl game finish and some leading comments by Miles, we all deluded ourselves into believing that he and Cameron were going to open up the offense that offseason. Good times. That’s why the anger flowed like a broken dam after that terrible opener vs Wisconsin. Then we had the amazing shite-show that was should we or shouldn’t we keep O to keep us all busy during the season as he coached out the string.
It feels like Arkansas fans have no delusions or expectations at this point, so I’m not sure any of this helps.

If you go back and read the old posts I think you will find there was alcohol involved. Lots and lots of alcohol.

It started out bad with the 4 lame duck Les games, then went well until 2020 when O forgot he was a coach and reverted back to drinking and chasing women. 2018 and 2019 were great. Once LSU won the title in 2019, O got divorced and lost his mind. At that point, we were doomed to go through a bad stretch. Looking back on it the whole binder thing was absurd and O’s previous behavior should have served as a warning. My takeaway would be - If a university is going to pay a coach the kind of money that a Top 20 team pays now, they need to do screening for substance abuse tendencies.
