Outside of the years that he had Winston, what has Jimbo done that is so great?

He can recruit well, but his teams have been lackluster other than the years when he had Winston at QB. Why are some people so enamored with him?

People said the same thing about Meyer post Tebow FYI. Would anyone question Meyers prowess?

But to answer your question, he's basically a competent version of Miles. Meaning he's a guy who recruits really well, manages the game, and focuses on offense. He's the competent version in that he's actually good at game management and develops QBs while putting very good offenses on the field.

He built FSU up from a very stagnant half decade. He would do it here and then some with our ability to attract and pay for top defensive coaches.

are you really this stupid? or just pretending?

yeah JIMBO SUX alright.........

ONLY won 4 division and 3 conference titles and a natty

cannot develop QB's. only 8 or more played pro ball. sux arse. 29 game win streak. how terrible.

ONLY won the sec west every other year he coached at LSU in 01, 03 and 05. has a freshman QB looking like a senior after just 5 games.

If he can make Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel worth a frick as 1st round picks, then we should consider him a God. Throw in the fact that he's already won a championship, recruits at an elite level, and is familiar with LSU, that's just the cherry on top.

Meyer had a track record at BGSU and Utah. He turned them around day 1

hes been at one of the premier jobs in the country for 10 years now, a job that has everything LSU has, and his army of 5 stars is giving up 63 to louisville and losing to north carolina.

if he comes to LSU we'll still lose 3 games a year, just in new and different ways.

and LSU has more NFL players than any other school.

how has that helped us on the field? how many times has that stat helped us beat bama?

most teams lose 3 games a year anyways. But LSU fans are desperate to do it with a fighting chance at QB. It felt like our ceiling with miles was so low bc he was reluctant to utilize the most important position in sports.

This times a thousand!

Fisher is a big improvement over Les. But.... I am a big improvement over Les. I love Les and hate to dump on him but seriously, I am no expert on football and I recognized his offensive flaws.

Hated Jimbo's offense when he was at LSU! Never cared for him much as a coach. He isn't horrible, but I certainly don't have him in my top five.

Other than Saban is there any coach that won't? I think 2/3 losses per year with the hopes you pull of a title run every year is about all the top level programs can really expect anymore.

Meyer has dominated a weak Big 10 for the past few years, and the Big 10 certainly seems to have a lot more good teams this year so that may be tougher to achieve in the future.

Jimbo has a freshman qb and has played a pretty tough early schedule, i wouldn't decide to pass one him just because of the start of this year.

In the SEC you are going to have to expect the typical year to be a 2/3 loss season and every few years hopefully you can have a veteran team or get some lucky bounces and be a 1-loss sec champion in the playoffs. Outside of Meyer and Saban i'm not sure there are any other coaches who would make me expect more.

its Herman by a very wide margin with me, Jimbo isnt even on the list. id rather take a shot with Mullen or Gundy than Fisher (assuming we could keep Aranda, O, and Raymond).

its easy to see why Mullen and Gundy have hit a ceiling, theyre at the second best program in a small, shitty state, its likely they could do more with better resources, but Fisher has no excuse, he already has those resources, he has everything a coach could dream of and hes losing to UNC.

LSU has the most NFL players because we are dominant in recruiting. How many of those players are QBs? One. A career backup.

Biggest problem with this team for YEARS has been an offense that can only run the ball. When behind and forced to pass, we lose. Every time. Happens in every single Bama game. Box stacked? Our top RBs cant run over the front *9* they're facing? We lose.

FSU hasn't had nearly as much talent as LSU. Fact. All LSU needs to put it together is a capable, balanced offense which starts at QB.

Before LSU was awesome as OC at Cinncy, also OC at Auburn in mid 90s that helped produce D Craig that is our receivers coach at present and also Patrick Nix that was a great one for Auburn also. Oh and also 1987 Divlll player of the year for Samford as Qb. Is a direct disciple of the Bowdens also. He has the pedigree.

His play calling at LSU left a lot to be desired relative to the talent he had at LSU.

He is proven himself in many many games though. And also had bad games to be expected. But I think he is a proven Coach at the reins of a Monster size program that can get it done with no questions asked. Can also recruit. I just don't see it yet with Herman. Also Jimbo is still young (50).
I just think Jimbo is just so Seasoned
What you think??

Uh, are you shitting me? He has one of the best resumes in all of football. Please find me 5 coaches that have a better resume than him.

And why not include Winston in his analysis? He recruited him right? He developed him right? That's a part of coaching. Take away the years of any coach's best player and they look more pedestrian.
