I want to know something, why does everybody think Herman wants a big Texas job as his dream job? Maybe he just wants a big job period.

Texas can't offer more than LSU other than money, and would you rather want to build Texas or plug and play immediately at LSU? He's already proven that he can beat Saban with a 3rd string QB and his RB had a 200+ yard game against him. Then his old roommate Aranda is here getting paid Group of 5 HC money to be the DC, and LSU is a very interesting option for him.

See he can load up on Louisiana talent and since he coached in Texas a good bit of his career, he can continue the pipeline we already have established there.

What OU wants doesn't really matter. That's not how the Big 12 works. Unless they're able to find another home they don't have a huge say in things

It's a ticking time bomb for the big 12 if they piss off OU. I would love for OU and Okie state to join the SEC because then they could change the divisions around.

I agree with all you said. The only reason I can think why Herman would choose Texas over LSU is the easier path to the playoffs. Nobody can deny winning the big 12 is much easier than winning the SEC.

Now I don't have any clue how Herman feels about Texas, but I know a lot of Texas people and I know how they feel about Herman. They think he would be a much better fit than Strong. That's why I say a 8 or 9 win season for Strong doesn't guarantee anything if Texas feels this is the one shot they would have at Herman.

On the Aranda issue, Sure it makes sense for Herman to keep him if he comes to LSU. If Herman went to Texas he could just as easily bring Aranda to Texas.

Yep. I'm not saying Herman would pick LSU over UT, but you have to think the stability of the SEC and the instability of the B12 weighs heavily in LSUs favor.

If Houston remains in the AAC they will continue to be a stepping stone job. This is good news for the P5 teams who want to make a pass at Herman.
