Yeah, cause nothing changes after a decade. What I don't understand is why there is little love for the guy and his record at USCw is always ignored. We always want to jump back 10 years and base our opinions on that time. The HC spot is a managers position. Coach O also happens to be a damn good recruiter and an effective manager. Why are we so obsessed with a pretty name?

Because that's the only time he has actually, to use your words, managed a program. It's more than "flipping the script" and getting a revamp in energy to a roster that out talents 99% of teams. The only time he has managed a program 24/7 365 days he failed miserably.

The "keep O" mentality is exactly what held back LSU pre 2000s. If you're fine with 8-4/9-3 program then go ahead. I'd rather LSU meet its potential.

When Coach O was at Ole Miss, they never gave him time to get his recruits time to become upper Classmen.

So, when he becomes LSU's coach, we have to expect to give him 3 years so his recruits can become upper classmen. Or, we can hire somebody like Jimbo who can coach a QB up to make an impact as a true freshman. Tough decision, I know, but I'll take option B.

That's wonderful and I love coach o...but lsu shouldn't be the place to experiment if he should be a head coach.

GeauxBayou, Ole Miss had no talent when Ole Miss hired Coach O. Coach O was recruiting very well when Ole Miss was at Ole Miss. But they never gave him time to let his recruits to become upper Classmen. LSU already has talent, just like when Coach Miles became the LSU Head Coach. Coach Miles just kept on recruiting. Coach O willdo the same.

Coach O was a disaster at ole miss. His team quit on him his last year and he didn't build his team as well as people remember. They were great on the defensive line (obviously) but topped out as an 8 win team w/ old houston dale.

He very well may have learned his lesson and become a better coach but he needs to prove it somewhere else first. Doing it as an interim coach is not near the same thing as doing it as the full time head coach.
