Interesting post on Tidefans.com from a guy who claims to be a UT grad who says not to believe anything coming out of the UT pr department as they are masters of disinformation. Can't link on my cell phone but if you read the last few pages of that thread you can see his posts. May not mean anything but could be important to consider if all these reports quoting sources are coming from this or department.

They have their puppets and mouthpieces. I'm told that Orangebloods got a tongue-lashing to day for being the 1st to report on Mack leaving. Apparently, they decided to capitalize on what information they had instead of being loyal to Mack, as they had been in the past.

Damn, did you even read what I wrote? I said a UT grad posted this. I also said it probably means nothing in regards to these rumors but it offers a different perspective than anyone has discussed that may or may not be relevant.

Also the same people who said it was done deal UT was headed to the PAC 10, Big 10, and ACC. Plus their was NO WAY A&M would allowed to join the SEC.

Texass is used to overpaying for W's. If you divide up Mack Browns salary by wins they pay a pretty steep price already. $10M per year for Saban doesn't seem as crazy if you start factoring in 11 win seasons and BCS bowls at least every other year.
In the Big 12 the new coach at Texass will only have to deal consistently with OU and the occasional OSU or the Haley's comet known as Baylor once a century... Much easier to win the Big 12 and much easier to get a BCS bowl there than in the SEC.
With todays TV and BCS bowl payouts a $10M compensation package for guaranteed success is really a no brainer.
I do agree with you, still is a stupid amount of money.
