So fricking stupid.

I'll spell it out for you again:

Texas has had one black head coach in all of their sports in their entire history. They fired her for an inappropriate relationship with a student. She's now suing them because of unequal punishment standards.

If Mack is staying on at UT as a "special assistant" or whatever, and Briles hates Mack, wouldn't that be a signal that the next coach won't be Briles?

If Briles alleged "hatred of UT" is really "hatred of Mack Brown", I can't see him taking the job if he has to deal with Mack in any way.

That is why it will be Gene Chizik. Gene put a stop to Pat Dye's meddling and Bobby Lowders Casino pay offs. Gene can handle those dime store cowboys in Austin.

No offense to anyone but they will not hire a black coach. Just won't.

Official Prediction Thread

Put me down for Jason Garrett.

He'll accept the job and resign in Dallas before Jerry can fire him.

Gus - if he wants it
Todd Graham if Gus doesn't

They will go young - ~50.
Why dump Mack just to hire someone around the same age?
Saban, Miles, may use it to get a bump but are too smart to enter that mess in Austin anyway.

Graham can't be hired by Texas.

There was a provision in Patterson's contract at ASU that if he left for another university he could not hire away a coach or another employee of ASU for one year.

If Texas takes an NFL coach they are certain to lose him back to the NFL as soon as he succeeds, Texas isn't looking for that.

Who are serious candidates?

Like I said earlier, if they want to compete at nationally then they better get a strong personality to deal with all the internal crap they have going on. Someone that can unify all the different personalities they have involved in athletics.

it is really a subject of interest to them. you'd think the aggies have a decades long history of hiring black football coaches or something

Your math seems a little off. Drew Brees/Nick Foles vs Carson Palmer/Matt Flynn. That sounds like the same number to me...
