What makes him stand out as a top defensive mind? Miami's defense was not particularly impressive this year in a very down year for the ACC.

He had them top 30/35 in most defensive categories. Don't think the hire will be guilty but he is a good DC.

Not saying he's a candidate, but I remember Geoff Collins' name floating around not that long ago. Not a great tenure at GT, but he's LB coach and has SEC DC experience.

He recruits his arse off and would lock down East Texas and Louisiana

That would be nice. We definitely need someone that can recruit.

This was his first year at Miami but check out why they hired him and what he did at Marshall.

The year before he took over as DC at Marshall, Marshall had the #1 ranked defense in the country. His first year there they ranked #44. His second year they were #6. My concern is that he hasn't shown that he's capable of fielding an elite defense at a P5 school yet. That's not to say he can't do it, he just hasn't proven it. He's not a bad fall back option, but I don't think he's one of your first 5 phone calls.

Put me down as another vote for Jim Leonhard. He can recruit them, coach them, and put them in the NFL. His defenses are stout and the players rally around him.

Ron English and Mark Hagen from Louisville. They are CO-DCs. Just throwing names out there.

He is a Co DC and LSU could bump his pay significantly.
He is my pick and he has worked under CBK at Cincinnati, so they know each other.

Another vote for Lance Guidry.. he’d lock down LA and the players absolutely love him. Great motivator too..

Was most recently DC under Clark Lea at Vanderbilt - Lea was Kelly's longtime DC at Notre Dame and they have a good relationship

Add Antonio Pierce. Coached at AZ ST, interim HC with the Raiders. No way, Raiders are keeping him as HC

I played a bunch of NCAA 14 so I'd be an immediate improvement over the previous staff. Go ahead and throw my name in the hat.

Then I take it you know how to blitz and also how to spy the qb.

Minter was hired by Michigan in 2022...why didn't Kelly try to lure Minter from Vanderbilt when he was first hired by LSU?

Maybe we didn't have the stability as a program at that point? If Harbaugh goes to the NFL, and Minter doesn't join him, LSU could arguably be more stable.
