Its official.

Nutt may fit the Ole Miss coaching profile but I think its risky business to hire from within the conference, especially Nutt.

He is the most predictable play calling coach in the SEC.

And Ole Miss can't recruit running backs...so...

Good luck. Good bye. If you need help packing give me a call.

Never saw that one coming!
Thanks for the info.
Keep it coming, you seem to have your finger on the pulse of the SEC.

I think this is going to come back to bite Arkansas. Nutt will do well at Ole Miss.

I don't think it was so much that Nutt was predictable in his play calling as it was the team being one deminsional. That being said, it worked against us, so it couldn't be all that bad.

Deuce...

how can u say all of this about Nutt..he what won the SEC West 3 times in the last ten years..He is 11-5 in the SEC over the last two years...His team has led the SEC in rushing the last six years..

Nutt was the best possible pick up for Ole Miss.

Good luck finding a coach

Yeah, but he won't have Ole Miss to pad those stats anymore.

Maybe we should've been talking to Nutt about the LSU job.

Houston Nutt's recruiting is like none other..... because none other would hire highschool coaches to get their players.

Check the links on the thread on the Coaching Changes Board...if he isn't hired, there are some bad writers out there who jumped the gun.

That is a great hire for Ole Miss.

Looks like they learned something from the last hiring fiasco.

The falling out, IMO, started a few years ago:

#1: From the eyes of a faithful Hog fan, he let the prospective deal with Nebraska go way too far.

KATV Channel 7 out of Little Rock aired live coverage that night from Fayetteville, with the Nebraska jet sitting on the tarmike waiting for him. Thats how close it got, and I think that still stings alot of fans.

#2: Arkansas fans wanted O.C. Malzahn and something had to go bad wrong to lose him to Tulsa and then lose Mitch Mustain and Mustains right hand man reciever from Springdale H.S, after one damn season. I could write forever, but alot of shady events surrounded this whole fallout, and it looked bad on Nutt. It appeared that he went and hired the guy just to get his high school standout players; Malzahn was never given any real say on the offense so he told Nutt and UA to kiss his arse.

Those two events are what I hear most HOG die hards speak of most.

Combine that with having almost the same team as last year and having only ONE quality win this year (sorry LSU but thats you) doesn't help.

did Nutt and John Thompson get along while at Arkansas?

I think keeping JT would be a huge bonus for Nutt.

John Thompson

His defense was too gimmicky for me. At times there would be only one down lineman.
