I don't get why MS State keeps going to the first time HC hires. There are coaches they could grab from G5 and small P5s that have experience.

He was at ND one year and they went 10-3. It was an important year because they had gone 4-8 the year before so it was the one year Kelly was kind of on the hot seat there, but it’s disingenuous to act like Elko was the backbone of Kelly’s success at ND.

They made the playoffs twice and finished one spot out of the playoffs after he left and made the BCS championship game before he arrived.

Chris Klieman should be on the list also I think. He has done a pretty good job at K State after making the jump from ND St.

not to mention the job he did at SIU & NIU prior

And beat Auburn in Auburn

Jeff Brohm is a coach who just goes about his business and gets it done. Never dreamed Louisville would have won 10 games and be playing in the ACC Championship in year one

Buyer beware. Sunbelt Billy would have been on this list before Florida hired him.

Norvell should be on this list. He took over a disaster at FSU after Fisher/Taggert. Has done a great job in the portal and a great recruiter.

DeBoer took over a team that went 4-8 and lost at home to Montana. He is 23-2 now at UW.

And Minnesota. They hadn't had a winning Big 10 record in 11 years, and he had one in 2014 and took them to the Citrus Bowl. He's better than that row the boat clown they have now.

Any more?

I think Brent Key at Georgia Tech will prove to be one in the next couple of years. Used the transfer portal to bring in King from A&M who immediately turned into one of the top 3-4 QBs in the ACC and has 2 more years to play. Missed bowl games the last 4 years and Key finished his first season at 6-6 with a couple of ranked wins. Got a lot of momentum built up going into the bowl and offseason.
