quote:

The longer BYU has waited to make a decision regarding their head coach, the likelihood of the Cougars leaning towards Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo increases. It looks like there is new news to confirm that suspicion.

Bill Wagner of the Capital Gazette reported Thursday evening that Niumatalolo will be traveling to Provo on Monday to meet with officials from BYU, including AD Tom Holmoe. Wagner cites that Evan Beard, who has represented Niumatalolo since 2007, confirmed the meeting between the Navy coach and officials at BYU.

Beard said Niumatalolo "feels strongly that he needs to hear what BYU has to say."

If they hire him and BYU runs the triple option...wow

That would be a true sign of the Apocalypse

Niumatalolo will be BYU's next coach.

Keenan Reynolds is graduating and Coach Ken is a devout Mormon. Plus his son plays at BYU.

It will be official Monday or Tuesday.
Great hire.

It will be a good hire. Niumatalolo is in a similar spot that Mendenhall was. He had probably taken his program as high as it can go.

I'll be interested to see if/when BYU joins a conference.

I'm curious to see him at BYU and Bronco at UVA. Bronco will need some recruiters on his staff

He looked so emotional at the end of Army Navy. Could be gone.

I agree. He looked like a man who just coached his last Army Navy game.

Was listening on the radio but he was crying and said how great it was to have coached at Navy. When they asked him about interviewing for BYU he sidestepped the question.

Good timing for him to leave Navy if he does. This was the best team they'll have in a long, long time and Reynolds is gone after the season.

That said, no HC in America has better job security than Niumataolo does at Navy. As long as they beat Army more often than not and bring home the CIC trophy every few years or so, his job is safe. He's done a little more than that.
