I don't know why his name hasn't been brought up more often. I think Gundy has been a solid coach and would be a safe hire at a big time program. He could never get great recruiting classes being that it's Oklahoma State (Besides the handful of tPOS) and yet he's still winning. The only thing is he would have to have a big time offer and big time coaching gig to leave his alma mater. I don't think he would just go to any SEC school. However, if LSU or Georgia are looking to part ways with Miles and Richt, I see a great fit.

Maybe an NFL team takes a look at him?

I think Gundy has some solid gold handcuffs at OSU, courtesy of T Boone. My impression has always been that they've made it well worth his time to stay.

OK State is a big time program, they have good resources and really nice facilities. I'm sure he's been courted, but he seems comfortable in Stillwater.

Probably doesn't want to put up with the BS of a USC, Texas type job.

From 1986 until now, he's been at OSU all but 5 of those seaons either as a player, asst coach, coordinator, or HC. He'd have to be really pissed at some people, or the offer incredible, for him to leave.

he's at a good program. maybe not a blue blood or tier 1 kind of place, but he's at a place where he can accomplish alot, including winning championships.

who knows what transpires of they don't miss the FG against iowa st in 2011.

(for the record, i think LSU wins a close game if they had played.)

I feel like Gundy is in the type of situation that Rich Rod was in when he left WVU and I can assure you that RR would have stayed put if he could do it all over again.

STILLWATER — Like thousands of other Oklahoma State fans Saturday night, there came a point where Boone Pickens simply had enough.

Maybe it was the 22-0 deficit midway through the fourth quarter. Could have been the Cowboys’ 1.5 yards per rush. Kip Smith’s eight punts sure didn’t help.

Whatever the reason, Pickens, who regularly departs early to beat the traffic, was seen leaving his own stadium really early — before Texas formally handed OSU its fourth-straight loss and a few days after Pickens gave The Austin American-Statesman a less-than-stellar endorsement of Cowboy coach Mike Gundy.

The question: Are you still supportive of Gundy?

OSU Update - Coach Controversy
The answer: I’m certainly supportive of Oklahoma State University. I’m always going to be for OSU, I don’t care who coaches ‘em.

On Monday, OSU’s head coach said he hadn’t heard those comments. A reporter filled Gundy in and he responded swiftly.

“I don’t need anybody to tell me that they like me or dislike me,” he said. “I don’t really care. I just like to coach my guys and keep playing ball … I don’t know what to say. He’s old enough to make his own comments now, right? I can’t control what he says.”

And there you have it. Gundy and Pickens have now each been given a public microphone to address one another. It would be so easy to put on a good face, throw out a compliment, and be done with it. Instead, they’ve each chosen to downplay the other’s significance.

Clear evidence that a once-happy football marriage between a billionaire booster and a homegrown quarterback turned coach has soured.

Mike Gundy Press Conference
But why?

“I don’t have any idea,” said Gundy shortly after his press conference. “I have to take care of everything that I actually control and have my hands on … He’s very outspoken and is going to say what he wants to say when he wants to say it, and you just kind of go. I just kind of keep moving forward and do what I do.”

him and t boone don't seem to have the best relationship. t boone and miles were drifting apart right before he left, so i wouldn't be surprised to see the gundy man bolt for a bigger job.

They've won 12 in a row since that article was written. I'm sure they are getting along nicely right now.

It was widely reported they had patched up their relationship in the offseason.

Gundy has flirted a lot before, still hasn't left.
If he can run the table this year he might just get lifetime status in Stillwater.

I couldn't see a major program wanting him. I don't think he leaves Okl. state unless he can't get along with his bosses. i heard rumors of him possibly being a candid for the UF job last year and thought it would have been a bad idea.
