I didn't realize MSU's DC is the son of the Mayor (former) of Miami.

quote:

CORAL GABLES — The University of Miami's search for a new football coach shifted away from Jon Gruden and toward Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and other candidates Wednesday following Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt's morning meeting with Gruden in Tampa.

Mullen now appears to be at the top of the list.

Mullen, 38, is 13-11 in two seasons at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are 8-4 this season, with a win at Florida, where he won national titles in 2006 and 2008 as an assistant coach. Mullen began coaching under Urban Meyer at Bowling Green, and then followed him to Utah and Florida. Mullen's base salary is $1.2 million a season, but his contract has built-in incentives. MSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is the son of former Miami mayor Manny Diaz.

Why do Ole Miss fans seem more interested in the Mullens situation than State fans?

Has Ole Miss really reached the point where the only way it can compete with its in-state rival is to hope their coach leaves?

It is funny to watch the desperation coming from Ole Miss fans.

If you can actually win at MSU then you can win just about anywhere!

It's just as hard to win at Ole Miss as it is at State.

Dude they extended Nutt's contract to 2089. You think that doesn't make them a little pissed? I would be looking for anything at this point to distract me from that garbage.

The OP and HottyToddy7 have started five Mullen/Miami threads between the two of them.

You are full of complete shite and need to get your head out of your arse. You are the reason no body likes or respects Mississippi State University athletics.

First off I have only started one because I was curious if there was a recruit in the Miami area that Mullen could be visiting or if he was possible in town to interview for the job. Second off this is the MOTHER frickING COACHING CHANGES BOARD. If you don't like the fact that Mullen is being looked at by other school, give to the athletic program so yall can pay to keep him. If not SHUT THE frick UP AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE.

You can ask state fans and they will tell you, I might say crazy stuff every once in a while but I am normally level headed and can carry a meaningful conversation about SEC sports, unlike you who makes post just to call out other posters one this board. Get a life and grow the frick up douche bag or GTFO off of this board.

90% of your fan base realizes Mullen is leaving either this year or next year. Do like Jeter and drink some reality potion before you keep making an idiot of yourself.

BTW just because an Ole Miss fans starts a thread on the Coaching Changes board about the opening and University of Miami doesn't mean it is about Mullen or MSU. You are flat out not worth it.

Because MSU is their biggest rival? Same reason Bama fans are so interested in what is going on with Newton...and Auburn fans are so interested in what is going on at Bama...that is all part of having a true rival.

What is one advantage Ole Miss has over state that makes it easier to win there?

PS Recruits don't give a crap about the grove.

And you are the reason nobody likes Ole Miss period.

I guess if I were getting owned by my in-state rival (and I had Houston Nutt as a coach), then I would get a little worked up over this situation too.

Edit: typo

This morning on the radio Dan Mullen called Casey Kasem and requested that he play Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" as a long distance dedication to Colonel Toddy.
