Good luck to Ohio State with the new hire. He might do well in the big 10 but on the national stage they will still continue to come up short. Meyer and Chizik both needed great qbs to suceed and win games. Gimmick offenses that need special players who only come around once every 5-6 years that is not sustainable. Auburn won't be relevant for again while chizik is there, and the same would be true if meyer had stayed at Florida. Just my take on the situation thoughts?

Alex smith was definitely a once in a lifetime player.

Yeah who did utah beat that year? Utah was comparable to Boise when Meyer was there. They could get up for 1-2 big games a year. And obviously Alex Smith was #1 overall pick and is leading a team at the top of the nfc. If he would have been handled right out of college he could of had the same results sooner. The talent was there. Not to say alex smith is like tom brady or aaron rodgers but he can win football games.

I'm not sure I'd call Chris Leak great or a once every 5-6 year QB. Just saying.

You are correct about leak sir. Team benifited from stout defense. But I will argue that without tebow Florida doesn't win that year either.Leak was asenior though and already defeated the 2003 national champions on the road as a freshman so he wasn't a scrub either.
