The thing is he isn't good enough to have a middle of the road defense in the NFL. He has had 1 good season and 1 ok season, the rest have been bad to horrible.

When did LSU move to the NFL?

We have ample evidence that not so good results in the pros can work just fine in college. If the Saints were looking at Mel Tucker as DC, no bueno. LSU, that's a different story.
Especially if we're judging him off his time with a bottom 3 organization in the league and another team who's defensive personnel fossilized.

I'm not sure I would be happy with this hire, but due to injuries for most of the year Chicagos defense was manned by guys that would be lucky to be on some teams practice squads.

I understand what you are saying, but I was reply to the poster that said he had middle of the road defenses.

But back to his resume, I know pro failures can work in the college ranks, but I see nothing from this guy that suggests he would be great for LSU.

All of this. The stats will probably turn off a lot of people, but the Bears were signing people off the couch to help a defense already lacking talent. I think he could be an impressive hire for us.

Only an LSU fan could be disappointed in hiring a NFL Defensive Coordinator.

I just googled "worst defensive coordinators in nfl history" and his name came up twice on the first page. True story.

Tucker has had a terrible run in Chicago as the Bears DC the last two years

Do you think it may have something to do with the talent on that D?

It's not your Pop's Bears
