This is the only problem I see with firing miles midseason. The media outlets continue to bombard coaches of various schools on whether they are interested in the LSU job and/or if they have been contacted. My fear is that one of the coaches we want gets turn offed and we therefore miss out on a potential great hire.

The decision was the correct one ultimately in letting miles go. I just hope things don't get fudged up due to the earliness of miles' departure

If a coach lets the media get to them that much then they chose the wrong career

They'll find something else to do in a week or two.

Can't stand this. Like any coach is gonna say yea I'm interested the 5 th week of the season and then he'd be fired the next day.

Coaches would either outright deny they are interested, or say that they are focused on this season only and not concerned about job prospects elsewhere.

If they have been around college football for any length of time, they are used to dealing with this.

Yeah I agree. I just hope we don't find our guy and maybe come to a verbal agreement. Then it gets leaked and backfires.

Coaches know how to deflect and you will see them do that in this case. But it is no secret what a great job LSU is; the cupboard is NOT bare, like at a lot of programs that have to let go their coach mid season, we will pay with the best of them to keep our coach "just ask Miles," we pay our coaching staff well, great recruiting base, great fan base. If a coach likes the LSU gig he isn't going to care if he is asked about it, he will just deny it until he is hired.

Don't worry. In a few weeks the pool of dead men walking or already fired will be bigger and LSU will be old news. Malzahn is an inch from getting the boot but could pull through if his team improves more. Strong could get the axe if he loses to OK and OkSt. UT could get nervous that LSU wants herman and they need to pull the trigger and move quickly before that happens. Also USC could make another change and Herman is a West Coast boy. Could become a bidding war.
