Maybe the Kiffin to UH is a good thing

Kiffin likely would be gone in 1-2 years and we start over again.
Kiffin comes with baggage and would likely be a distraction.
The loss forces LSU to really open the search up and explore more potential hires. My hope is that they take a flier on all potential up and coming guys and not just zero in on the "big name". With our talent we should be an attractive place for any OC that wants to showcase his playcalling/gameplan ability.

Just like the HC search, we have 1-2 big names and if it doesn't work out we will rush to make some other shitty hire instead

I agree, this is not like the HC search. There are more great choices to look at as OC than the options we had for HC. Kiffin is good but he's not the only one who is.

Truth is any OC we hire and is sucessful will likely get a HC job within 3 years. Lifetime (sucessful) coordinators are very rare these days.

Very very possible, even likely!
Ideally in a perfect world we hire someone that has no HC aspiration or pro aspirations and is the Aranda of the offensive side of the ball.
I said in a PERFECT WORLD.
That said I hate LaneK although is a very good OC.
I HIGHLY doubt we would keep LKeffen for more than one season. He would be looking forward to jumping ship before he even inked a deal. That is why I am OK with hiring him but would prefer someone else that is also good that we can hopefully hold on to for more than one season.

Kiffin to UH is a done deal? Did I miss something?

There is no Mrs. Kiffin. Layla apparently got tired of putting up with Joey close to a year ago.
