So 3 out of 5 seasons Canada ran a better offense than LSU with much lesser talent.
He is also competitive with Bama's total offense in a couple of those years with much lesser talent.
I am curious where you got your total offense numbers. Could you send a link because i wasn't able to tie out all your years.
I think the point here is that stats, in a vacuum, can be analyzed in various ways depending on what team you are comparing it to. I think it's important to watch film on him like others have done, and take those stats in to consideration as well.
He has developed QBs, Broyles Award nominee, offense consistently performs, he has had school record setting offenses, coached at schools with much less talent than LSU, and builds his offense around his talent.
If you don't have Canada as your number 1 I can unserstand that, but some people saying he is not good or a one year wonder aren't taking in all the facts. Numbers are a good measure, but we should consider where he was coaching and the other points i mentioned above.

1) i don't think passing offense stat is that telling. I would be more concerned with are his teams' offenses producing and putting up points.
2) his scoring offense consistently improved year over year, and his offense can hang with Kiffin at pitt. Granted, the teams Pitt play aren't as good defensively, but they are also dealing with much less talent than Bama and LSU.
I could see his offense or Kiffin's being successful here, but I'm just not a fan of the risk factor associated with O and Kiffin together. Maybe it wouldn't be an issue at all, but their history coaching together makes me nervous.
I would say my, personal, biggest knock on him are his lack of recruiting ties to the area, which should be a big factor, but let's not pretend that these numbers are end all be all on the guy. I think if you look at his entire resume and understand the talent limitations he has had you will see he is a very good OC.
TL;DR
Stats in a vacuum can be misleading. It's important to consider all factors involved in those numbers. Canada may not be your number 1, but he is definitely a good candidate for the OC position. He is most certainly worthy of an interview for the LSU job.

I think people are still pretty high on him. He's been talked about a lot this past week. Wouldn't be opposed to his offense, although he would need to modify it a bit at LSU. My only concern would be with his play calling without an offensive minded coach calling the plays in-game.

Yeah but he beat Penn State and Clemson this year, two conference champs. He must be the guy. Honestly NO. Canada isn't the homerun he's the pop fly that sounds great coming of the bat.
The real homerun hire at OC is either Sark or Briles the Elder. I hope O's aiming for Sark. Briles would be the best but do we really want Bob Ley running us on Outside the Lines non-stop?

Wisconsin isn't exactly a recruiting mecca either, but that didn't stop Aranda from putting together top 10 defenses. If you're good enough as a coordinator, you'll get it done.
Canada's offenses have proven that he's an exceptionally average offensive coordinator - and that his passing offenses typically rank in the bottom third of the FBS.
When Miles was fired, everyone wanted an offensive minded head coach to come in and change things up. When we ended up with Orgeron, everyone then rationalized the hire by stating that if we could hire a top flight OC to open up the offense, then we would be alright.
Now, apparently everyone wants to hire a guy that can't field a pass attack that finishes a season ranked higher than 70th.

Everyone give him credit for the PSU win... PSU blew that game and PSU's first year started looked just like that. As the year went on he got confidence and played much better. Clemson game had tons of bad PI calls and had lots of gimmick plays... if these two games are what convinced you, you obviously did not watch this team all year.
