LSU would be wise to NOT put all of their eggs in the Jimbo basket.

LSU is seemingly going all or nothing for Jimbo, leaving themselves in a bind should something happen at the last second (again). Dumb move IMO. They need to have an offer for Herman put together to his liking in the event that Jimbo changes his mind. I just don't want to see LSU get roasted and have no back up plan in place. Causing them to resort to somebody like Fedora.

We really have no clue this is the case.

The idiots here can't comprehend that. They don't understand that Alleva has probably been working out multiple plans since Miles was fired, just none of those plans could start to roll until now. They also don't understand that Jimbo is our #1 option, but other options have likely been taken into consideration.

If Jimbo ends up not coming and Herman goes to Texas and we end up with Fedora, or some other tier 2 coach, it doesn't mean we had no back up plan. It just means we struck out with our first option and this is who we feel is next best available.

I think if we are being honest with ourselves, Herman is more of a long shot than Jimbo.

If Jimbo says no, sure you make an offer to Herman, but the reality is that we're probably staring at our 2nd tier options. In other words, LSU is already in that tough spot you are hoping to keep LSU out of.

We don't know for sure...but we have info from guys who have been credible in th past. And, we don't have any info from guys that have been credible in the past that contradicts the Jimbo news.

I reject that. This process could be as far along as LSU wanted it to be (and maybe it is.) If LSU really is in the spot we think they are (waiting to hear if the target is going to say yes) that's because LSU put us in that spot.

Unfortunately, it seems the administration was really planning on just hiring Coach O if he won out. That plan changed Saturday, so my guess is they didn't have much planned ahead of time. I think most of the work (whatever that is) has been done since last Saturday afternoon.

So LSU could have hired Jimbo or Herman away from their respective schools the week after we fired Les?

There is no way we were going to start hearing about a coach actually coming here until this point in the season. I am certain there were talks back and forth, but none of that could become a reality until now.

If Jimbo and Herman say no then you hire Orgeron just give him a short lease (3 years no matter what his contract says) If O fails then hire a new coach.

I'm just going by what others are saying here who claim to be in the know. By what they are saying, there really isn't a plan in place if Jimbo says no. Their plan was crap to begin with if LSU was truly wanting to just hire O until he lost to UF.

Herman is likely a long shot. But, at this point in the game, LSU should know A) If he's interested and B) What it would take to get him to LSU. I'm just saying that they should have a formidable plan to go after him just in case. Instead it seems like they have the mindset of "oh well, Fedora will walk from Chapel Hill to BR for this job."

Les has been gone for 2 months. Do you honestly think LSU haven't gauged Herman's interest to this point?

Cap everyone is in panic mode. They have zero clues. Come Sunday, or even late Saturday night, when things start to OFFICIALLY leak out all will be well. F King can't screw the pooch again baw

So you think it is a done deal with Jimbo? How confident are you?

Please tell me you don't honestly believe this? What makes you thin that was the plan all along? An article in the Advocate? Agents, "sources" etc. leak stuff for negotiation purposes. Much of it is partially, if not completely, inaccurate.

If LSU wanted Ogeron to be the HC this entire time, then he would have been named the HC already, if for nothing else than to start shoring up this years recruiting class. Do you really think the administration fired Les Miles 8 weeks ago and just said "well. We have our new HC in place. Might as well just take a vacation for the next 4 months"?

I seriously doubt the LSU brass freaked out after the Florida game and thought "shite! That wasn't supposed to happen. Quick! Get on the phone. Start calling people...Now!!"

I bet you dollar to donuts that there has been a list of potential candidates since well before Miles was fired and that informal communications, number crunching, planning, etc has been going on since Sept. At this point it's just a matter of can they get their top guy to say "yes" at the number the want to pay. If not, they will move on to the next one on their list. The coaching search didn't just start last Saturday afternoon.
