O next year. A decision has been made and that's why Booger made the statement on CFL.
The decision-makers don't feel he has the skill set yet to build and maintain a national program.
If you take emotions out of this, it makes perfect sense.
Now the LSU admin is supporting him and pleased with the progress thus far. But he's not going to be LSU's head coach beyond this season.

Coach O knows what's up. This isn't news to him. That's kind of the point of interim.

Well they had better already have their man lined up then. If O does a good job down the stretch, LSU terminates him and then flails about in their usual manner, a lot of fans will be pissed.
