And you balk at $6m? You give the man $7m but negotiate away some of his protections.
Whether the guy proved he's worth it or not, it's the intangible message that you send to the college world that you are top tier and have juice.
Want to play with the big boys, gotta pay like them too. It's a mentality that permeates the entire program and school for that matter.

In my opinion Tom Herman was not a proven commodity for the most part. I don't think it was worth $6 million a year
