This is a good problem to have and one that makes him look good. He's the one that made the call for the coaching change and so far so good.

Never thought we would be on the same side of a LSU coaching situation, but i am right there with you.

It should go to the most qualified interested candidate, doesn't seem like that difficult of a decision to make

If job security is something that Aleva values, he won't give in to the pressure to hire Coach O. I assure you, if he does, he will no longer be the AD at LSU within 3 years.

Fully agree. O has excelled at being an interim HC with talent laden teams built by someone else. His biggest question mark is his ability to manage and maintain a major program like LSU. Unfortunately. his only reference is a stint at Ole Miss which was a total failure. Does LSU take a chance on if he's actually learned the trade or go after a proven HC. Herman is the hot commodity right now, but Jimbo could probably bring more longetivity and stabilty to the program. It's gonna be interesting.

There are a couple of issues I haven't seen mentioned in all of these interminable discussions. If O WINS OUT, that means a championship. Even if he just comes close, the program will have a few years of momentum to ride, and he is known as a great recruiter, so he wouldn't likely leave a mess if he can't keep it going. That tends to lessen the damage if he earns the job and then fails. Secondly, wasn't it said that Alleva said he would definitely be considered for the permanent job? That can be defined however one wants to, but if he wins out or goes 3-1 with a bowl win, how much more could he be expected to do? It would be hard for Alleva to can him without looking like a liar. (Yes, I do know he's not the most popular or respected AD LSU has ever had.)

Go out and become a head coach at a school that will hire you and prove that you have what it takes to be a great head coach.

Taking over a team that is uber-experienced, has talent mismatches all over the field, and then winning a few games with a coaching staff that another head coach assembled doesn't mean you can be THE man.

I think you missed the point. If Alleva said he would give him fair consideration, what more could he want to see? He knew O's resume when he made him the interim HC.

Unless he was lying about the fair shot?? What is Aleva's track record on hiring coaches both here and Duke? I am not impressed so far with who he has hired here, but don't know about Duke. In his defense both Trent and Nikki looked really good at first, just haven't panned out. Jones was a case of caving to the old guard. If the BOS gets involved in this God help us.
